People act as if the money Crawford was paid came out of their wallets. He does make it happen for the other D-Linemen.

Good post, my man .
Since I am heavily invested in my team, in essence the money does come out of my wallet. Overpaying average talent keeps us from the super bowl, so yes, it comes out of my wallet.

Not true on either count.....Pro Bowlers get 14m a year........ TCrawford gets 7m.....at least get the facts right

See above......... that is flat out wrong on both counts

Not expensive at all......... his contract is 3/21m....that is what Trent Murphy.....Kareem Martin.....Kevin Dennard and Vinny Curry ....... you know all those All Pro superstars
Lol. Facts r 10mill and they overpaid to lock him up early. Today they get 14mil, 4 years ago when the extension was signed 10mil was probowl money but you could twist it the way you want to and defend a terrible deal. You sit on a thrown of lies

This does not sound like justification to me. This sounds like a guy who is a good Dude. Has he ever been in trouble, going back to his College days? I honestly don't know but I don't recall any. Marrying the right girl, young or not is not a business decision, it's a life decision and I don't know how you blame a guy for that. Fratinernizing with "The Powers That Be" is who exactly? His contract was a team decision. They could have let him walk or they could signed him. They signed him and that's on the team, not the player.

You don't like the play, that's fine but the contract is not his fault and the decisions made by the team are not on him. That's on the team.

In no way does this guy deserve near the hate that he receives. What should have done? Turn down the money, say NO...THATS TOO MUCH! Would you have? LOL

He is what he is,.... a good solid player who impacts a lot of plays. He may never be a pro bowl type player but HE IS a guy that is unselfish and goes about his job in a workmanlike manner. He is a guy that might not make the play, but due to his actions he influences A LOT of plays that others clean up. Kind of guy that will be sorely missed when he is gone. Asked to play multiple positions and does so without complaint. Very versatile. Soooo, Hate away..... but in the end we are very lucky to have him as a Cowboy.

I was a poster and a member long before I was a MOD. So long as there are no rules being violated, you and I are on equal footing in our views and our ability to discuss them. There is no MOD thing going on here. It's your opinion and mine in a conversation over the topic. That's all it is and that's all it will be with any staff member on this board. We all post, we all contribute, because before we were Staff Members, we were Cowboy Fans.

4 years ago his cap hit was 698k
then 2.8m
then 4.3m
then 10m and that still isn't ProBowl money

Its funny watching the forums "evolve" over the years. It used to be there were your "experts" whose numbers were limited and their posts were valuable. Now we have "a lot" experts and a lot of parrots that repeat things just because they like a poster, or something that is said fits their "perception" all the while facts get ignored.

Is/was TCraw extended too early maybe, he has not been the abject failure of say a Ken Hamlin or Jay Ratliff or others that got yuge paydays and their they disappeared. Crawford has been consistent, played while injured, and has done everything the team has asked him to do. Lesser players would use the media to air their discourse. I am sure Crawford realizes that his "flexibility" is probably going to cost him some money come contract time again whether with this team or anther, because his track record shows that he is a swiss army knife not "stud" DL.

"position flex" aids in our crisis management style of coaching. ergo, Crawford remains. stand up guy. great attitude. but not a great player. but if the numbers mentioned above are correct, then he's not really a liability in terms of the money he's paid. would hitchens have stayed if he'd been offered 7 million last year before becoming a free agent?

Before Collins TCraw was supposed to be the new hotness but the inability to sign/draft DE and having a "glut" DT TCraw was the best DE the team had. Considering when the team made the switch to the 4-3 TCraw sucked as 4-3 DE, so imagine how much the stiffs that ran through here sucked, but he showed something as a 3T.

Average isn't the right way to look at it because the top guys are paid so much and the rookie guys are paid so much less. Dallas could conceivably have DLaw and Tapper at the DE positions with one making $17,100,00 and the other makinng $785,000. The average of the two is 8MM, but it doesn't tell you much.

If cut today, he would have made 26.7M.

He made 2.05M before the new contract.

Therefore:
All years: 4.45M average.
Since new contract: 8.22M average.

The top DE average is 17M. This contract was signed about 6 months after Crawfords.

If Crawford stays for 2018 he earns 6M above what he has earned to date.

Summary: He is far from being a top paid player but he is somewhat overpaid relative to the ideal number to match his value.

The issue is that he has value to the team and they can't just get a better player for 3M.

Missed all of 2013. Stays being injured. Cant play inside because his shoulder cant hold up.

64 out of the last 67 games says different
Might not have missed many games but he played with a lot of ailing injuries. He played a lot while being injured. Which really wasnt any different from his play when he was healthy so maybe they just made it up so he didnt look as bad.
