Not much you can do when the man running the show has no one to answer to. That is why his name is God-ell.
What makes it just as sickening is that he is getting paid more than any player in the game he regulates!

I am boycotting NFL for three games this season. I let the NFL office know as well and I encourage others to do the same...let your $s speak. Zeke gets a 6 game suspension, in a case that was thrown out of court, police closed the case, she retracted her story and NFLs own investigator said, they shouldnt' suspend.

then Winston does the same, lies, then admits to it, and gets a 3 game suspension, although NFLs own POLICY says, minimum 6 games.

what gives? of course we know that was Goodell getting even with Jerry for challenging him.....

so for three weekends, they don't get me to watch their commercials...

so NFL will probably say, ***.... so I wrote their advertisers as well. Budweiser, etc.

will it amount to anything? maybe, maybe not...but NFL depends on me the fan, and when me the fan is unhappy, NFL will know....they are not the king of the hill, they exists, because I exist.
I like what your doing and a few years ago swore I would never buy another NFL product again!

so your expectations (non realistic to say the list) is for the league to come out and talk about the league losing some popularity and their ratings dropping. that's idiotic. what world do you live in? and of course there is a core group of fans. they never leave. they are addicted. and NFL grows with those fringe fans and ratings grew because of those fringe fans and the ratings drop because of those fringe fans. and if you think the league doesn't care about those fans, then you haven't been paying attention. they changed rules making the league more offensive oriented and more scores, to draw those fringe fans. you must be a young new fan of NFL. go read a little history of how the league has changed over the past 20 years.

First off I've been a Cowboys fans since day 1, Jan. 28, 1960 and have been watching them since their very 1st game and know how the game has changed. Second those fringe fans or casual fans don't spend a single cent on tickets or NFL merchandise that puts money in the NFL's pocket. The ONLY reason the NFL has cared about them is by including them in the viewership numbers so they get more from the networks on their TV packages. Don't fool yourself that they really care about a group that don't spend their money on anything NFL.

the viewership numbers that you try to make meaningless are the same ones that watch commercials...and companies want viewership!!!! its not meaningless. its very meaningful. they may not buy as much merchandise, but they buy some...its about getting those last dollars out of anyone you can....

you are spinning something that you have no idea about.

I will allow you to boycott on my behalf

Go cowboys
Same here..lol. Boycott on my behalf too @CowboysFaninHouston ...

The inconsistencies piss me off too but I wasn't in that room when the players agreed to the current CBA. They brought some of this on themselves by folding.

I can't wait to watch every game of this year's deep playoff run. Let's go Boys! :flagwave:

It is a lot more than the casual fan that is walking away

I know several Ravens season ticket holders that have walked away completely ....they were big time fans

I have several family that are done with the NFL period and some that are only interested for Fantasy Football and for gambling

This guy keeps saying they are the 1% fringe but reality is they are the 15-20% mainstream

They pander women so hard to attract them as viewers but lose them just as quickly with the concussions and Domestic Violence

You can still be #1 and slipping.....IBM is no longer the top computer company

the guy who is getting his shorts tied in a knot is just old school, used to being told what to do and just follow orders. a yes per man per se. as I mentioned, the NFL exists not because it wants to, its because of the fans. and as you said, IBM, once king of the hill is no longer king of the hill and it starts with a few unhappy customers... the sad thing is he tried to make this into a loyalty issue, which I still fail to see.... standing up or commenting against something that you don't agree with has nothing to do with Loyalty.....

A real boycott would mean refusing to watch any NFL games in order to further plummet ratings.

I not sure how many people in this thread actually understand how TV ratings work and that nobody on this board can influence them in any way.

https://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/question433.htm

To find out who is watching TV and what they are watching, [Nielsen] gets around 5,000 households to agree to be a part of the representative sample for the national ratings estimates. Nielsen's statistics show that 99 million households have TVs in the United States, so Nielsen's sample is not very large. The key, therefore, is to be sure the sample is representative. Then TVs, homes, programs, and people are measured in a variety of ways.

To find out what people are watching, meters installed in the selected sample of homes track when TV sets are on and what channels they are tuned to. A "black box," which is just a computer and modem, gathers and sends all this information to the company's central computer every night. Then by monitoring what is on TV at any given time, the company is able to keep track of how many people watch which program.

So ... if you don't have a Nielsen meter installed in your home, there's no way your refusal to watch the game can influence the ratings.

That’s the social media age though. Obviously people are dumb enough to do and say things while
Being video taped and the company finds about about it through Facebook or twitter.

I’m moreso referring to the fact that employers don’t spend millions of dollars doing their own investigations into behavior that isn’t clear cut (like the Zeke case). And many employers, like mine for instance, can only discipline you IF you are convicted of a crime, per company policy. Obviously every company is differen, but what im saying is, unless you’re caught red handed or convicted, most companies aren’t spending millions to privately investigate their employees lives’ outside of the Work place.

In many cases other employers just fire the person - no suspension and no appeal. The NFL's system obvious is far from perfect, but NFL players get multiple chances that people in other lines of work don't get.

I find it odd that any company policy would prohibit discipline except when convicted of a crime. Surely you aren't saying you can show up an hour late for work every day, not complete tasks, go on TV and talk trash about your company and never be reprimanded? What about harassing a co-worker, sexually or otherwise? Does the company have to report it to the police and then wait for a conviction before handing out any discipline? That seems very much against company interests since companies would prefer not to have the stigma of those kinds of things happening under their umbrella, not to mention the possible legal liability if they admit that it does.

Okay, I am not someone that will be boycotting the NFL over the Winston situation. I think it is highly unfair that Zeke was treated as he was for as little to no evidence as there was, yet Winston, who has a LONG track record of similar behavior gets a 3 game slap on the wrist. However, with that being said, I have 0 problem with those wanting to boycott NFL products during that time, and, as much as I like football, I have to admit that my interest in the NFL is waning. For example, I've got to admit that European football such as the EPL is close to over taking the NFL for me with the NHL not far behind.

I forgot to mention that I've also really taken a liking to rugby and would enjoy Aussie Rules Football if I could find a good channel with it. It looks like fun to watch on Youtube.

Except someone just like him IS represented by the Neilson ratings

That is the whole point of getting a true cross section

Someone with a black box is boycotting the NFL and represents @CowboysFaninHouston

I am with you. Maybe I will boycott on the 3 weekends that the Cowboys are not on in my area!

That has the same effect- 1 less viewer.

I do truly wish fans could organize a boycott Sunday for more reasons than what you mentioned - that would make an impact! That would be a great thing!!!
