Well, I would think the real challenge will be if he has success. Maybe a new contract. Then what will he do? But he's dumb enough to screw it up earlier than that.
his contract will have all those disclaimers you get suspended and fsail tests FULL VOID of contract..period ez peasy

You can say whatever you want but the numbers don’t back up your claims. The 1 Tech in this defense is not a just first down player.
Yet they choose not to spend resources there, knowing their jobs are on the line....

I don't get the reaction to this. The team isn't depending on Gregory, he has Top 10 talent and can easily fit into a situational pass rusher role. He might have more physical talent for that role than any non-starter in the NFL.

Think about a rotation with run downs of DLaw-Irving-Colling-Crawford

and passing downs (as mentioned before) of DLaw-Irving-Taco-Gregory. And you still have Armstrong, Jihad Ward and maybe Tapper rotating in.

This is a good thing people, rejoice.
Replace Crawford with Charlton on run downs and I'm good. You can put Crawford in Irving's place for run downs if you want.

And you're right about the first sentence. He's a quintessential 3-4 ROLB and I do recall Marinelli dropping him into zone hooks and flats a handful of times in the last two games of 2016. He's definitely fast and athletic enough to cover TEs if necessary, too.

I knew the weed puns would be rampant throughout this thread. You guys did not disappoint.

I think this is a great thing. Sometimes people need a mental reset. Glad he is getting his life together and creating a new chapter in his life. Let's hope he can translate his newfound energy on the field.

31 other teams QBs just got very afraid........I don't need anyone responding with "Randy is a bum, he hasn't done anything" etc. Only positive replies or pass by my comment. Thank you for letting me be happy haha

Great news, I think some will be surprised when he start to make plays this year. I hear people say he's been away for 2 years. But if he's truly dedicated, I can see him getting back to form rather quickly, he's a young man and has a fresh body. I see good things happening this year.

Finally got some RDE now. Chuckie and Dorance Armstrong will be fighting for the backup spot.

I hope the young man fulfills his potential and has a great career .......... but I do not trust him and do not expect anything from him.

Prove me wrong young man ......... make me cheer for you.

Will only make the team because Irving will be out the first 4 games. Of course he could surprise us all but I just don’t see them giving a roster spot to such an unreliable player. He needs to be noticeably better than most of the other DEs.

Because their DC has convinced the front offic he can turn bums into players.

If what you are saying is true then why have 1Techs in this defense logged significant numbers of snaps over the years?

If Randy Gregory has overcome his challenge of drug addiction than he deserves praise, that no easy task.
An equally tough challenge lies ahead. Its no easy task to just jump back in and pick up where you left off, its not like a light switch.
If he somehow accomplishes both, and ends his career with success and remains sober, it will be one of the greatest accomplishments ever at this level of sports.
