More proof : Dak thread

Who on our offense was great? If we're going to only look at last season and say he got worse, at least be fair and address the vast differences in the teams between year one and two.

What was the "vast difference"? Why are you quoting me with a nonsense question?

We had the same players in 2016 as we did in 2017. So again, DID EVERYONE ELSE OTHER THAN DAK GET WORSE? It's one thing if a single player declined, it's another when ACROSS THE BOARD there was a pattern of them all having a down year.

So, who is the odd man out here? Or maybe we can all just blame it on the coaching staff and think all these players will do better if we have a revolving door at OC.

As I have mentioned before, Dak is going to be our Jay Cutler. We'll go through multiple offensive schemes and playcallers before this place will ever put blame on him.

Agreed.

I'm a fan also but I'm not getting in on the "Well Dak is GOING to be great because of 'X, Y & Z'".

And if I wasn't a fan I wouldn't base future failure on what happened Atlanta game onward.

It's simply too small of a window in either case.

Let's see what happens THIS season and then maybe we can judge the guy more accurately.
We will not be the only ones, I believe this is his make or break season and should he not prove he can be the franchise, they will go on the hunt next offseason.

This is the year for Dak, if he can't get it done after all of the self help and admission that he needs to work on consistent accuracy, that ship has sailed and he's a good backup. I hope that is not the case because I don't like the idea of these people looking for that guy. They wanted Lynch and Cook.

I already dismantled your argument using the very basic stats YOU attempted to use. You refused to give context, so I ended up providing it for you.

A player regressing and declining and playing poorly is much more important to look at than what he did 2 years ago. Also, Dak had some bad games BEFORE the final stretch as well - you know, like the Denver fiasco.

Do better, Mr. Football.

No you havent dismantled anything coz ive been clowning your opinion the last two hours..It has little merrit and proves nothing other than in your opinion Dak is not a good qb..Which is completely wrong...So What now have you dismantled?

That's not an argument. I'm not here to play a d*ck measuring contest with you.

Come back with a better argument and don't waste my time.

Hey there were surprised as anybody as to how well Dak played in 2016...Its why i realize That Dak is the franchise qb. He is just not your idea of one. AND WHO WOULD BE at the start of his third season. I DONT WANT to hear about Wentz either coz he didnt play in the Sb, and didnt close it either!

I wasn't hot on Wentz or Goff so I am far from a QB guy.

I knew more about Dak because I am a SEC hound and watched him play. The reason he fell out of Heisman contention and his draft stock fell was because when the SEC D's most like the NFL, AU, AL and LSU put him in the box, he struggled. His legs got him on the Heisman list but those teams game planned against him for that and made him more one dimensional.

I think they got him as a backup prospect and maybe a developmental project but when they pressed him into service, they got the same surprise his high school HC and his college HC got when they started him because of injury to the QB1, he gets that job, he doesn't give it up.

What I do think he is going to have to do this season is revert back to that dual threat QB and he's built like RB so he can take a hit as long as it's not too low or high. And he's got getting down in a slide really well.

And I don't have an idea of QB1. Staubach, Aikman and Romo were all different just like Wilson and Brees are different that from what is expected. I just want that guy to be one that seizes the opportunities when they're there and doesn't blow the easy throws. He has not proven that to me yet.

It would be one thing if this was early on, but that's not the case. Dak simply progressively got WORSE - this is why the QBR stuff is idiotic, oh and what some haven't mentioned, the QBR actually factors in what he does on the ground which has boosted his numbers. As a passer, he's actually around where Mariota was as a passer last year. Not exactly great.

Several key players were either hurt or their respective performance dropped. It was not just Dak. The team sucked coming down the stretch.

Agreed 100% i may have confused you with the other fans of other Nfc East teams..Yes Dak taken in the forth round was an issue of his feet and the accuracy as such in college..Its not really a new issue. FURTHER i think his intangibles in leadership and ability to analyze learn from it and move on, and his athleticism will pay dividends this year..is he perfect...no. Is he capable of playing at a high level in the Nfl Hell yes. He has already proven that.

Of course and more to the point, they were playing sub par before the ladt 8 games.

Yes pretty funny as this type of junk was happening with Green the first three games, and Cooper some till he got his legs planted..COMBO platter of Elliot gone, Smith Out and the Poser Green..

And on top of that you had Witten and Bryant that were limited threats.

We can wax prophetic for hours but this is Daks team. I THINK Dak will play at a better level this year because Elliot will play better without Nfl Satan dogging him.I believe the Fullback who isnt discussed much that can catch, block and run well, will add a new dynamic along with Austin, by adding a dynamic short pass game...i think two tightends that can do both things blocking and catching will play much better than most fans even consider. WHY, coz they are more talented than we have been allowed to see under the spector of Witten.

THE wide Receivers and Dak are already bonding and for the first time in years they worked together in florida in the offseason...I cant say how it all falls out, but i think Hurns, Beasley, Gallup, Thompson, Maybe Twill your main Cogs. AUSTIN as well in his role maybe Noah or Lenoir Round it out. I think several twos production about to happen, and before you balk at that, see 2016 production..NO ones production that year. Lolol..

I think Linehan and Garret coach the hell out of everybody or actually the new coaches do, coz for Garret and Linehan and to some degree Marinelli..They have to. NOT Saying their heads will roll just that last year a bad look, and the taste bad in their mouths..Things both outside and inside their control went in the toilet!

He does......

So you picked the 8 game stretch where he was hurt, missing his all world tackle, dealing with the Dez carnival and Linehan’s terrible playcalling. Brilliant analysis.

I understand he is not a "proven" QB yet in many people's eyes-- but damn-- the hate for Dak defies all logic, stats, and common sense. Not seen anything like it lol...even Romo was given more time and patience to develop-- and his career definitely polarized the fan base.

For me, the jury is still out on the guy, but I'm willing to let this play out for a bit and see how he develops in his (all important) 3rd year.

Personally I think Dak is a "10 offense" kind of guy. Meaning you put 4 WR's out there and spread out the defense and I think it will put him in the best possible position to succeed.

He proved only that he requires the best OL, can't have any dip in performance and a 1600 yard rushing running back to make his job very easy. Now once teams took away the short routes and made running harder dak's accuracy issues which you noted from college, surfaced to show he is not ready to carry a team if needed. I believe Dak is an average QB, slightly better than bottles benefiting from an above average OL, RB, and in 2016 a very good dez and sure handed witten. Now when things get tough, and they will real quick, hopefully we will see improved passing play to make teams pay.
