The #Patriots have finally released WR Malcolm Mitchell, source said, a move weeks in the making. They shopped him to no avail, as his knee was a cause for concern. - Rapaport

Man I'd be all over bringing him in. What's the roster spot rules regarding signing currently injured players? Or youre not able to unless they pass their physical? Once healthy he could easily become a contributor.

I would be leery of signing anyone Bill belichik releases. The giants might have gotten an albatross in nate solder.

I dont think the Giants will be happy with that contract very soon.

But instead of a Solder(who hasnt proven to be bad yet) it could be a Chandler Jones, Jimmy G, Jacoby Brissett, or BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Pats have been pretty bad personnel decisions as of late.

Since nobody wanted him, doesn't make sense Cowboys would take him. Damaged goods.

No one wanted to give up anything of value(conditional or not) for him. Especially when the Pats just want to move on.

That being said, I doubt teams are calling his agent non stop especially if he isn't cleared yet.

Malcom Mitchell is actually pretty good.

He'd immediately come in and compete at the top of the depth chart.

Unfortunately, he probably cant pass a physical and I'm guessing his synopsis doesn't look good at all.

Agreed. I don't think there's much to differentiate he and TW in terms of overall ability, and he'd be a good player to have if you're going to truly have the WRs run routes from all over the place.

why be all over him? a receiver needy team, is releasing their top outside WR....

and when was the last time a patriot player was released and went on to have anything of significance done anywhere else.....

How are they a wide receiver needy team? They are a win now team with an aging QB, who made room for more healthy veterans. Like Eric Decker who they just signed. And why would you not want "the top outside WR" from a strong team?

There's a bunch of examples of Pats losing a player and him contributing for another team. Ive listed a few above, another being Revis. Every team cuts players that can be productive for other teams. The pats are no exception. Aqib Talib was way better once he left for Denver too. Kony Ealy just last season.
