Lollipop arm strength allows ball to hang in air too long. Defensive backs with twitch have time to dart into passing lane and make interceptions despite a good read by quarterback. Struggles to challenge tight windows in middle of the field. Could be limited to timing-based passing attacks. Unable to make sudden getaways from pocket due to lack of athleticism. Strong pocket push from interior short circuits his plans.

Do you remember Romo his first couple of preseasons? His feet were bouncing and dancing everywhere, seeming to be on the verge of full panic. He looked like a scared rabbit in the road with oncoming traffic. But he settled in, got comfortable with the offense and the NFL, and became a very good NFL QB. Dak didn't have the advantage of 3 years of learning on the bench. He was thrown to the fire immediately, and responded very well. We all know there was some dropoff last season, which really isn't that unusual for a young QB, and certainly not surprising considering he had an amazingly low INT total as a rookie. But even then the dropoff was mostly when Zeke's suspension hit. There was some earlier in the year as well, but he was still having a very good year.

Bottom line is that he has done everything during his time with the cowboys to give you hope that he might just be a viable backup & perhaps even a starter. He definitely seems to have some talent for seeing the coverage & getting the ball out with anticipation into the right spot. Hope the cast around him in PS give him a fair shot at showing what he can do.

Yep thats our Franchise QB alright......Hyper awareness results into Panic which results into pick 6's,sacks, overthrows, all the good stuff every franchise QB has in there arsenal...:eek:..our Dak needs the Wall of China and then some to finally complete a pass over 10 yards accurately....
 
I'm actually semi comfortable if we need Rush to drive the bus a few games.

As long as he doesn't expect Tavon to win jump balls against starting 6ft corners on a regular basis hah. That was a good play by Austin though.

Comparison of QBs in year 2 as starter

Drew Brees - 3,284 yards, 17 TDs, 16 INTs, 60.8% completions, 76.9 rating
Brett Favre - 3,303 yards, 19 TDs, 24 INTs, 60.9% completions, 72.2 rating
Joe Montana - 3,565 yards, 19 TDs, 12 INTs, 63.7% completions, 88.4 rating
Dak Prescott - 3,324 yards, 22 TDs, 13 INTs, 62.9% completions, 86.6 rating

Now, tell me how year two of a QB's life defines him forever ....

By the way, to circumvent your certain, illogical argument, I'm not claiming Prescott will become a player of the same or similar quality as the other guys I showed, but rather this is just an illustration that a QB's second year does not define or condemn him. In fact, Dak's season wasn't bad at all, just not as good as the year before. He has certainly earned another year to see how he progresses.
 
I love to see fans grade arm strength. I still remember back in the day people said Romo "lollipopped" his throws.

I like Cooper rush and I don't think any of our other back up QBs are beating him out for the #2 spot, and maybe he could be something more in the future but I think it is a little premature to say better than Dak.
Saying that, I do like Cooper's medium to deep throws, lots of touch on the ball but I think we need to see more zip throws from him. Will not survive if you can't hit those slants and crossover patterns with in the midst of coverage

What has he done that has been bad? He's done extremely well in the situations he has been in, that's all you can ask. You act like he played against top talent and did terrible. You should be happy our backup has done well when he's been out there, despite the competition he has been against.

I don't think he was necessarily saying Rush has been bad, but rather that some promote Rush as a way to attack Dak.

Dak Prescott isn't even in the same Universe as Montana,Brees,and Favre. He is a product of a Great Offline and HB and a check-down stat king so you keep the numbers and stats and I'll trust my eye's when it comes to all conclusions on the talents of Dak which are C grade to say the least....

Dak had to come in and play under center too, something he never really did in college

See, I knew you would say that, and even though I anticipated it, and explained the point and that I was not saying Dake was on the level of those guys, you still either completely missed it, or chose to ignore it for the sake of fabricating a point that doesn't address what I said.

But lets examine this "check down king" argument by looking at yards per catch of each of the QBs I mentioned in their 2nd year starting.

Brees - 10.3 ypc
Favre - 10.4 ypc
Montana - 10.2 ypc
Prescott - 10.8 ypc

Again, I'll repeat that I'm not saying Dak is the same quality player as those guys (read slowly this time and see if you can grasp that), I'm only pointing out you can't define and condemn Dak based on year 2 as the starter.
