Observations and I do think Dallas needs to make that trade

Dak never did. He got to play with the starters from the get-go.

And if you remember way back, Romo was playing jailbreak football his early days in those crazy 4th quarters.

Romo played his way into the back-up spot behind Bledsoe in pre-season. Dak was gifted the spot after Moore went down and Showers converted to safety. Still he looked good in pre-season in 2016. Romo was supposed to be a 5th-7th round pick due to being talented but going to some no-name school. Dak was considered raw despite starting 4 years at a big school and was supposed to be a 3rd rounder before the DUI. Never heard Rush was supposed to be drafted by anyone.

Seattle might end up with a Lance Lenoir or Jourdan Lewis to get this done.

Romo was third string behind Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson.

And when Drew Henson signed, they were going to release Romo. The only thing that saved him was when Quincy tested positive.

As some has said Cooper came into the game and had no help from his line at all. And yes he played a rough game. But still did some nice enough things to make you say let's see more.

After the first niners drive the secondary disappointed overall. Wouldn't you have to say that would be our weakest position group on D at this point? Which should make this Earl Thomas thing a no brainer.

one play, really? last pre season Cooper was good enough to challenge Dak, now all of a sudden hes not good enough?

Hes good enough that he has respect of the players and they know he can get it down teh field and score. What do you think you ll get in a back up, Tom Brady? Back up Qbs arent easy. Not many players want to be playing second fiddle.

Work with Cooper and he might be a good back up for years.
Who was good enough to challenge Dak? You can't be taking about Rush. The only ones that thought Rush was good enough to challenge Dak is Dak haters. All that being said Rush didn't throw just one floater, he did it last year too and multiple times in this game

It was a problem, did you not see the floater to Gallup. Gallup had a few yards on the defender and would have had another TD but Rush just doesn't have it. Against the starters Rush will be getting picked off like Eli if he has to play in the regular season.

To be fair, that was not lack of arm, that was just a bad throw!

Didn't Dak and Tony Romo both look great playing in those same situations? To be fair, Dak and Tony are both pedigreed QBs to a degree, Rush is not.
People that use the starting OL were the same ones saying Darius was trash even though it was stated he ran behind backups. They change the narrative based on if they like that player or not. They can't stay consistent

Oh right, kinda odd that our last 2 franchise QBs were both extremely lucky to get that job. To think most teams have to play draft roulette in the first round. I doubt we will get this lucky again, our next franchise QB will probably be a free agent signee or a high draft pick. The odds of getting back to back franchise QBs in undrafted free agency and the 4th round are probably beyond astronomical.

In 12 years from now and Dak is retiring our next franchise QB will be a 7th rounder

Secondary got burnt all night and we had zero sacks the entire game. Yah, this defense is humming.

Most of SFs passing success was in the 2nd half when their 3rd teamers, practice squad guys and guys that will be cut were playing against our 3rd teamers, practice squad guys and guys that will be cut. When the 1st and 2nd teamers were playing they completed a meager 50% of their passes for 0 TDs and an INT.

Even so, it's a preseason game, not a definitive test. No game planning, limited use of regular players etc .... If anyone is looking for clear proof of anything they aren't understanding the situation.

What about all those years terrible NFL teams go undefeated and great NFL teams lose all their games?

That's what I'm saying. Preseason is really to work on things and get the newcomers a taste of the NFL. It's a glimpse, but does not provide definitive proof of anything.

Quarterbacks simply have an astronomical bust rate no matter where you draft them. There's such a HUGE step from college to pro, especially considering the different style of offense, that they are impossible to project.

Generally I was impressed. This is young hungry team & fun to watch. Few observations I made:

The Good:
1. Jaylon Smith LB has progressed. Need to see how he handles higher volume of plays but LBs all sudden might be deepest group.

2. Joe Thomas LB was really impressive and more physical than I expected. Really confident in LB group.

3. Dorance Armstrong showed good power and just missed sack. If this is his floor..Dallas is in good shape.

4. Taco is getting better. I can't emphasize his reach (you have to see it in person to appreciate it) and if he keeps getting strong you might have two bookends in Taco & Armstrong.

5. I think WR group is better than last year. Receivers are shifty and notice alot more open space for Dak to make throws.

6. Michael Gullup is going to be #1 WR. Ultra impressed with him. Good size, speed and runs silky smooth. After game in his interview...he is almost anti-diva and I think that's what this team needs.

7. Lance Lenoir - little under-sized but huge heart. You win championships with guys like this on roster. I love this game - good hands, fearless. There was reason Dak talked him up.

8. Dak - I thought he played well in new system and throw nice long pass. I think DB lost ball in sun-light so I really want to see what Dak does in Preseason game 2 (which is most important one).

9. Kevon Frazier - was active and looks like solid contributor.

10. Charles Tapper - looks bigger and if healthy I think he is solid contributor.

The Bad:
1. Cooper Rush - doesn't have NFL arm and looks timid. Dallas needs to address back-up QB before season.

2. Donovan Olumba - might look like Sherman but basically gave up at end.
3. Connor Williams - once again saw him getting blown up. Concerned if he is starter at beginning of year.
4. Mike White - doesn't look comfortable. I would still keep him as #3 but Dallas needs to upgrade #2.

Conclusion: Defense might be better than expected as are WR group. If Dak looks like he can be successful in this new system I think Dallas has to make move and trade for Earl Thomas.

Must be overreaction Friday.

You give Rush the 1st OL and than lets see if hes a good back up. Ill take a flyer with him. We dont need a carousel behind Dak. get someone stable and knows the playbook.

Give them the Brown brothers: Noah and Anthony.

Would you rather have a 2nd round pick or keep all these young guns? We're not getting Earl Thomas for backup players or 4th round picks.

the only way i want ET is if Richard wants it. Other than that, im not even debating this. Dallas isnt 1 player away, but if last night is any indication, I personally feel the new coaches already brougth good things to the team.
