My thoughts on a slim view

Another factor to remember is the safety was coming over, and was only about 3 yards from getting there when the ball was caught. If the ball hung much longer he would have got there. That’s part of the trick - getting the throw out there enough to WR can go get it, but not hanging it so much the over the top help can make the play.

Which is why I said that Dak looking off the safety prior to the throw was the impressive thing about his play on that TD. The throw wasn’t bad either.

Hey, I'm, old, I'm ugly, and I haven't seen my Phineas for a long time. I sent out a search p;arty and they never came back.

You sound like quite the catch. I hear ranching is looking for a hook up.

And Aikman's pass to Irvin in the first super bowl was high and short, but Irvin made a fantastic play, spin, and touch down. No one cares about how the pass looks, did it get there?

I think he was referring to the homer comment that it was a picture perfect pass. It wasn't. Thankfully the defender stopped his feet or it's a pick unless Gallup makes a play over the top.

That was more luck than impressive and I like Gallup.

The pass to Gallup was short. If the db hadn't of got lost it would have been a pick. Should have led him and not placed it at his hip. I'm rooting for them but I'm not wearing my rose colored glasses this morning.

Can you say #clueless... pass was perfect!

Honestly, I just look to see if the results (TD in this case) are reproducible. What it looked like to me is that when Gallup turned his head, the DB turned his head and slowed a step to locate the ball, allowing Gallup to separate for the TD.

That isn’t going to happen most of the time. The typical result would be the corner running stride-for-stride with the WR and contesting the catch. With the ball out in front of Gallup, it would be much more difficult for the DB to knock it down.

So, a ‘perfect’ pass, IMO, would be one that the WR would have to run under and catch over his shoulder. Not one where the receiver had to turn and catch in his midriff.

Still, it was a good play and really, most long passes aren’t perfect... and a lot of those go for TD’s anyway.

It’s all good. I’m a Dak fan and think he did a good job of looking the safety off on that throw... which is the much more difficult thing to do for a young QB.

He’ll be fine.

Gallup looks really good too. He was my favorite pick in this draft.

I thought it was a good push off by Gallup along with a nice burst of speed. I agree the DB failed to keep up.

Don't know about perfect but on the money. Gallup pushed off well.

On any pass ever thrown if the defender plays it perfectly he can break up or intercept a pass. The defender started looking for the ball a little prematurely. I think he was fooled when Gallup started looking back at Dak obn about the 17 yard line. Don’t know if that was by design or luck, but I’m just happy the throw and catch were good enough to take advantage of it.
