Why Dallas needs to start off hot to win the East

Just saw an article stating that it is a possibility Alshon Jeffery could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list and would cause him to miss the first 6 games of the season. Many other key players within their organization are recovering from major surgerys, Wentz (Torn ACL, LCL), Sproles (torn ACL), Peters (ACL), DT Jernigan (back surgery), Brandon Graham (ankle surgery), MLB Hick (Achilles).

Looking at their schedule, they open up against the Falcons and face the Bucs (in Tampa) in week 2, Colts in week 3, Titans week 4 (in Tenesse), and Vikings week 5, Giants week 6, Panthers week 7, Jaguars week 9 (in Jacksonville), bye week 9, and Dallas in week 10 (in Dallas).

I think it is very possible that they lose against the Falcons, Titans, Vikings, and Jaguars, due to being banged up and players finding their "groove" again, making them 4-4 when we face them week 10, November 11th.

If Dallas start off hot and Philly starts off slow, man we could be in a great position to win the East come week 10.

Hopefully it works out that way. But the pessimist in me says, the Eagles will get healthy or find a way to lick into some wins.

Mara and Goodell still have time to formulate their plan to hold us back then take us out.

Are they still playing up the idea Wentz will be 100% to start the season? Has he practiced for real yet?

Would be great to wrap up the east and do it early. Gonna be tough for us and it depends on our Offense and how we start. Chemistry with the WR should get better as the season progresses. And we should start off with a great run game. And our Defense should be better than recent years. Could help carry this team.

Jax is in London, not Jacksonville. Although the Jags play well in London............... go figure.

That Vikings game is fascinating to me. That team folded like a cheap suit in Philly in the playoffs. But I think they will have better QB play with Cousins, who has had some really good games against Philly when in Washington.

Even with the injuries, I could see them being 6-2 by our game. They get the Falcons and Vikings and Panthers in their own building.

To play devils advocate- they did very well last year beating a lot of teams with an less than 100% roster.

And foles as there qb. When we played them in the last meaningless game of the season they had him in for a few series to get him some snaps and we were killing him. I assumed they would be one and done. But they had good depth and a even better staff and HC that put him in great position.

If we had that kind of HC the there is no telling how 2014 and 2016 would have went.

One thing about our division is that all records go out the window when we play. It’s a dog fight.

Cowboys started HOT 2 years ago and stayed hot only to lose in the 1st round of playoffs. They need to be hot in the post season, PERIOD.

How quickly you forget. The Eagles have a GREAT head coach. They overcome things like injury.

ahahahaahaha!!!!!!

And FWIW, I just caught a report up here on Jeffery.

He might not be ready for Atlanta but they may take him off PUP because he'd probably be ready by Week 2 or 3.

As long as everyone is healthy we can do it. We are deep at DE,LB,RB the CBs are better than what they are credited for. Once Irving and Collins (Our starting DTs) come back we will have depth at DT with guys like ward, price/woods and datone jones. I like rush as our backup Qb as well. The receivers are going to surprise people as well as guys like Jarwin and I hope Gathers who looks like he is this season and a trading camp away from being a stud. If we can get jarwin and gathers fully acclimated with their size and athleticism along with Gallup , Austin and Beasley , this team is going to be exciting because dak looks like he is starting to throw some dimes. Oh yeah!! I forgot about Zeke how can I forget about Zeke not just as a runner but in the passing game. This team has the makings a very good playoff team.

Of course starting off hot would be nice and helpful, but it depends how we finish also. Starting off 5-1 means nothing if we end up 8-8. If I had to choose a hot start or hot finish, I'd take a hot finish every time. (Sounds kinky)

If we can get to 2-0 we have a great chance at the playoffs, 0-2 = a big struggle and lots of tears, look at the Giants last year in wk1 against the Eagles, a lucky 59 yard FG set the tone for both those teams in the East.

Jeffries is injured? Didn't realize that and I've been drafting him in almost all my mock drafts.

He is still recovering from surgery that he needed to have in order to repair an injury he played through last season.

Sounds like at the very least he will miss two weeks at the start of the season.

I think that will all change this year. They're entire season was a splitting image of the Gnats last SB win. Everything (including winning in GB in the playoffs) just went the Gnats way. I may be wrong, but my gut feeling is usually correct. ;)
