I feel like Rico is the type of player that doesn't execute in practice exactly how you want, but when it comes to game conditions he makes plays. Perhaps the catch he took away from the Bengals defender got him some attention from the coaches.

Well apparently dak wont be playing , many starters wont, seems jerry decided they dont need to risk any more injuries, so
Rico wont be playing with starters, they see him as expendable and dont care if he gets hurt lol.
He might play the whole game.
PS is over for cowboys, they will just muddle thru these last two games, and start cutting players.

I think they already know who they are keeping.
Be really hard for any player to do enough to change their current status.
Since when does the starting QB not play in the 3rd preseason game? It's supposed to be the dress rehearsal...

No way Rico is a 4th string TE. I have no idea why they didn't have Rico out there with the ones from the beginning.

The Cowboys need to stop being so predictable and need to become more explosive and less predictable on offense. Rico gives the team a lot of explosiveness. Need to put points on the board. Rico is the TE that can do that. Forget all this stupid stuff about not being the perfect blocker.

Remember how Parcells wouldn't call TO by his name and just called him "The Player" when the media asked about him?

That was all about limiting TO's feelings of self-importance.

Parcells did the same with 1st round picks by having them be his water boy during practices.

Yes I do. Well, if Rico is anywhere near the arrogant talent T.O is....... Wow!

Production that hopefully doesn't implode the locker room.

Probably why the team is ready to get rid of him if he can't prove to be a team guy.

Again after the hit he took and then the team basically stopping his progress would it not be wise to have something to fall back on especially if he hears the media and his shots are long. He got drafted solely on athletic ability, I am sure the coaches told him so and Jerry has too.
the team didn't stop his progress. he could have studied the playbook. watch FILM and learn. he couldn't practice, but there is more to football than just practice on the field.

and if he is listening to media and deciding, he doesn't have a shot...his head is not screwed on right.....

he is not fully focused on football. that's his problem.

and yes he was drafted on athletic ability.....and not his FOOTBALL ability. we are seeing he is far from a football player.

how does rico give them explosiveness, when he can't diagnose the defense, can't run the right routes and adjust routes....and isn't on the same page with the QB!!! and of course can't block, but you have him as a WR (so predictable) the whole time...

How do you know "he can't diagnose the defense, can't run the right routes and adjust routes....and isn't on the same page with the QB!!! and of course can't block?"

I know you aren't basing that on any video of Rico on the field in a preseason game. You been to the practices? Or are you just regurgitating stuff you think you may have heard.

So, do you consider this an example of a board member calling/considering Rico "GREAT"? What sort of criteria do you use to distinguish between a person that thinks Rico is great vs. someone that doesn't?!:omg:

Who said anything about 'great?' I based my opinion of Rico based on what he has shown in preseason games so far and what video of plays I have seen in practice. Albeit a small sample, but a sample from what I have seen with my own eyes. And made a projection based on what I saw. And compared him to the other TEs on the Cowboys and came to the conclusion that Rico gives the team the best chance at 'explosiveness' at the TE position.

Man that vid everybody kept posting was fun.

To be honest I've been kind of indifferent when it comes to Rico. After the way he grabbed that ball on Saturday, I've become a whole lot more interested in him.
Sorry was on the road. I was the same as you and when I saw that grab in practice, I was hopeful. And then he grabbed that ball on Saturday and I was like WOW!. I hope we see a lot more the next game.
