The Cowboys didn't cut 2015 Dan Bailey. They cut 2018 Dan Bailey.

His first five seasons he only missed 12 FGs from 40+. The last two years he missed 8.

Touchback % on kickoffs:

2015 - 67%
2016 - 62 %
2017 - 57%

FG %:

2015 - 94%
2016 - 84%
2017 - 75%

Excellent job posting these Bailey stats. Pretty self explanatory. His strength and accuracy kept going down year after year these last 3 seasons. I heard he kept missing some FGs in training camp this year. Maher flat out beat him this summer and earned that kicking spot.

Thats not true. Tampa Bay cut two kickers last year, neither one of them could hit a darn thing.

He had a groin injury last year, they brought him back too soon and he missed 3 kicks. You can't put that on him.

Was he injured in 2016, too? He declined each year from 2015.

New kickers can go two different ways once the regular season begins and his kicks have season ramifications. He will either absorb the pressure and come through or he will succumb to it. We don't know about Maher yet. We will in eight days.

If he comes through then Cowboy execs are geniuses. If he doesn't, well......
