It's the much higher percentage play. You risk turnover or player brain fart the other way which could have netted you a tie also. If you need a FG to win a game, you go for the FG unless your kicker is injured. Hindsight is a great thing though.

It's not a hindsight thing....how many times do I have to sit here and watch teams play conservative at the end of games in order for me to understand conservative play does more harm than good?
