He couldn’t get off blocks so well that he had a 140 Tackles.

Imagine if he could get of blocks....

The only weakness I saw with Vander Esch in college is he wasn’t a thumper. He wasn’t going to crush a blocker and blow up a play that way.

Exactly. Kid is a stud, and can pack more steel on that frame. Talk to me in three years about the thumper part- he won't need to thump... his speed and size will still hurt people.

Besides this one, there was a play where they were picking up Eli after a sack and it looked like he saw a ghost. He was absolutely swamped on that play.

Eli was closing his eyes and cringing into the hit. Bwahaha.

On passing downs he’s basically a giant safety at the linebacker position.

I wanted them to take Frazier out in nickel, and use Jaylon like an in the box SS who can man cover TEs and RBs, with LVE and Lee taking the traditional LB roles.

But it turns out Frazier is playing pretty good ball too.

And one thing not to forget. Even though it was out of the end zone, Heath caught that jump ball over the WR. He makes plays on the ball that I don't see too many other safeties able to make.

I'm liking the coverage right up the middle of the field.

You can find threads around here in the off-season with me talking up LVE as a tackling machine. He was a monster at BSU and I was really hopeful it was going to translate into the NFL. So far the arrow is up for him.

He is still raw though, I get that, but I like the flashes I've seen so far.

They went LVE because Hitchens was gone, Jaylon was a liability, and Lee couldn’t stay healthy.

LVE was a need pick.

I never thought so, and the offseason seemed to agree with me.

I was more optimistic on Jaylon's leg, Lee's health, and the ability to replace what Hitch gave us. Even without LVE, we'd be fine this year. Everyone loves the LBs. With LVE, we're overstocked at LB and prepare for a future without Lee.

i thought LVE tackled like a beast. Barkley did not get away from him that I saw whenever LVE had to tackle him. He actually roughed Barkley up a couple times I thought. Was a good sign..

Unlike a lot of the guys tonight, LVE tackled into Barkley instead of grabbing at him with his arms. And in the open field. I really liked the tackling form I saw from him.

Thumps are nice, but I'm happy with a tackler who will bring guys down abruptly instead of missing or going for a ride.

Eli was a runner and didnt slide. Should have completely lit him up
What recent NFL have you been watching?

Lawrence got flagged for being pushed into Eli below the knee.

They protect the NFL Darlings at every turn.

He blasted Eli enough to have happy feet.......like his brother, the self sacker.

Jaylon was the Manster tonight. I'm sure Randy White was there. I ain't seen that number 54 dominate since he wore it.
