I think Dak's best comparison is Steve McNair

He really wasn't. They are carbon copies. McNair was also somewhat inaccurate, BTW.

McNair has been my comparison from the start. He's almost a carbon copy. Dak might even be a bit more accurate.

Yes he was. McNair was a much better passer in college and in the NFL. That isn’t saying much considering Dak’s struggles and short career. But he was a better pocket QB.

For sure, I didn’t mean he was as good as Alex smith, just that his play style is closer than cam newton.

Alex smith gets poo poo’d on because he doesn’t throw 500 yards a game but he’s 89-62-1 (87.6 career rating) with moderate playoff success (97.4 rating). He plays to win which is what competing is about.

Alex Smith? Maybe in time, but not yet.

Alex Smith is a very conservative passer. At least from what I’ve seen. He tends to hold the ball which I guess is where they Dak comparisons come from. Smith also has a noodle arm.

The OP is right actually and if you go through McNairs game logs you'll see a lot of Dak Prescottish days.

Really hard to compare. Back when McNair came into the league a really good passing day was 350 yards and couple of touchdowns. It was not uncommon for even the prolific passers to have 20/30 250 yards and 2 TDs by todays standards those are pedestrian

His nickname though was "Air"

McNair always put up numbers like 15-27 for a 170 yards and like 30-40 yards rushing. He had a prime Eddie George and Jamal Lewis with high quality olines with players such as Bruce Matthews, Joanthen Odgen etc. Similarly, to us with Zeke and our oline. The most tds McNair ever had in a season was 24. I think this is the best comparison you can make for Dak. He's not Mcnabb. He's not Russel Wilson. Etc. Opinions

What kind of offense do you think we're running?

It's a back when offense.

Steve McNair had amazing arm talent. Dak isn't close in that department. They both play with fire and they can create once flushed out of pocket. I think Dak is still trying to define who he is so its really hard to come up with comparison at this point.
