I completely understand where you're coming from. I just think Dak is serviceable enough with a good defense and a solid running back in Ezekiel Elliott. If the offensive line can just get healthy we can make a run or two. It will all be up to the defense to stay consistent. I don't think Dak can carry the team

When Romo first started the standard for passing was not where it was today.

Also, we aren't comparing Dak to Romo as a rookie....we are comparing him to the Romo that was run out of town for this iteration for Dak. That Romo had MVP upside. This Dak does not.

Also that Romo started those first 35 games with a much worse supporting cast than Dak has had in his first 35 games. Let's not be silly. This isn't even apples to oranges this is an apples to chicken pot pie type comparison.

Romo wasn’t grimacing anymore than Rodgers does after big hits...

He broke his collarbone and had an awkward hit on him in a preseason game.

The defense we currently have is the main part of the team that has the potential to be "much better" than anything that Romo had (because the defense was bad in some seasons). Don't see where else Dak has a "much better" supporting cast than Romo had. Romo had Witten and Dez in their prime. And also RBs like Barber who for a season or two was playing well enough to make Dallas a threat in the running game.

Because I picked a middle ground for comparison because of the title of this thread and because obviously Romo would have more games with more passing yards as it was a heavy passing system. I'm sure if Dak was asked to pass more (more attempts), he would have more passing yards.

If people are fretting because of the lack of passing yards but the guy they are pointing to (to be more like), had the exact same issues, it's obviously a moot point.

Romo was healthy and ready to play in the pre-season too. How did that work out?

I loved Romo. But why some people can’t accept the fact that his body couldn’t take it anymore, is beyond me. The dude was clearly beat to hell toward the end of his career and was missing a ton of games due to repeated injury. He was physically done.

Exactly what I am referring to with (exaggeration). Apparently our TE' s now are on par with Witten and our receivers now are all on par with Terrell Owens/Dez Bryant. Absurd

And that defense was quite good back then.

Now sure, the team was not complete later. O-line fell apart starting 2010 season, then defense fell off as well.
Then rebuilt O-line 2013-14 but still not much in terms of defense until last season.

I would call it more of an educated guess. I mean yeah we cant for sure say it, but I mean the last 3 times the guy got hit he ended up out for an extended period of time.
