Romo retired at 36 instead of going to another team and having to start over and he also got an offer for a comfy commentating job that pays good money. You think Romo would have retired if he got his job back in 2016?
That is actually an excellent question often avoided or indirectly addressed. In my opinion, it was highly likely he would have moved on.

The front office had made it crystal clear it preferred going in a new direction at the position. Hindsight suggests CBS would have recruited him regardless.

Romo would have been in the position of both having a former fully supportive front office seeking his replacement sooner than later and a top network broadcaster offer sitting on a silver platter. I believe he would have retired no matter if he had not finished the regular season due to another injury or had gotten benched in favor of Prescott after poor performance, led the team perhaps as far as the title game, or helped win the whole darn thing.

So he was a Jag ......... right? and Eli Manning is great correct?
When you've been to the Super Bowl ( Dan Marino) and you've broken NFL records, you're special. Has Romo done any of those things?

I defended Romo often and thought he got too much hate at times, especially from those outside of the Cowboys fanbase and those in the sports media who loved to bash Romo or either refuse to give him credit for how good he was and how good he made the Cowboys. Some of the hate Romo get went overboard at times.

But, I defend Dak as well because while I do believe he has from for improvement, I think some just dislike him either because he is QB for the Cowboys or they resent him for replacing Romo and "costing" Romo his starting position. Like Dak played great in 2016 and the team didn't want to risk throwing up the good thing he had going with the team. Some wanted Romo to come in and finish off the great season Dak started. And because Romo wasn't allowed to do that some have resented Dak ever sense.

Guess it would have been better for some of Dak played awful in 2016 just so that Romo could still have is starting job now?

The problem I have is that your front office has to be the ones that decide if 2016 had more to do with Dak or more to do with the team around him. I'll give you an example, the Patriots just lost the Super Bowl and they revamp there team, because where some might say "we had a great season made the SB lets keep everything together" but what's real and what they had to coach around. The Cowboys FO can't tell what's real that why they kicked Romo to the curb and you're left with Dak and his bad qbing.

Romo was healthy and ready (and willing) to play when he ws forced into conceding the starting spot to Dak. So i'm coparing Dak to the version of Romo we had. Imagine how good our offense could have been....imagine.
Yeah I agree.
