Revisionist history.

A career year? What kind of career year has you have 1 touchdown in 9 games?

Cole Beasley was more integrated into the offense in year 5 than he was in year 3, largely due to Dez being hurt, but his numbers aren't much better, nor were his numbers consistently better under Prescott than Romo. His regression matches that of Dak being exposed by NFL defenses..

That is all excuses and guessing..

TD's? Now the yards and receptions don't matter?

people often get confused about running attempts. 25 rushing attempts in a game don't come all on first downs. our history with garrett has been about 50/50 run/pass on first downs, which is good. but one has to get first downs to make those attempts. yesterday we were 3 for 13 on third downs. also, we are being stopped pretty much on first downs, which puts us in a 2nd and long and 3rd and long situation, yes some because of penalties and it forces you to pass. also, when you are down late in the game you tend to have to pass to score quickly...we lose some runs there....so this we don't run enough is just looking at one small stat line and coming to a conclusion.

when teams are winning, ala giants game, we run to run out the clock. we didn't do that yesterday in the 4th....

add up all of those and that's about 9 -11 runs a game lost because the offense was inept in the first 3 quarters...that's about the 25 runs a game we want to see from zeke. yesterday, this was 2nd and distance in the game in the first 3 quarters..

2nd and 5 - passed
2nd and 3 - run
2nd and 7 - pass
2nd and 10 - run
2nd and 20 - run
2nd and 7 - pass
2nd and 7 - run
2nd and 12 - pass
2nd and 17 - pass
2nd and 15 - pass
2nd and 8 - pass
2nd and 10 - run

that's an average of 2nd and 10 to go, and we had 5 runs, 6 passes. good mix of run/pass but mixed results.

this was the average and break down for 3rd downs.... what's obvious is that through first 3 quarters we only ran one time on 3rd down. we passed an opportunity on two short yards to run the ball....it also seemed in those cases, they were 8 or 9 in the box and a spy on Dak. the rest of the time we were in 3rd and long situations which dictate offensive call. after failing to convert 1 yard on a 3rd and 1, we abandoned the run on 3rd downs.

3rd and 6 - penalty on seattle
3rd and 1 - run (loss of 1 yard)
3rd and 2 - pass
3rd and 9 - pass
3rd and 9 - pass
3rd and 7 - pass
3rd and 2 - pass
3rd and 17 - pass
3rd and 5 - pass sacked
3rd and 4 - pass
3rd and 6 - pass sacked

Thanks for making the effort, and once again clearly illustrating that this coordinator doesn't even consider running on third down.

He could also throw it 7-10 yards and WR can make the defenders miss or break tackles for a longer gain.

The Cowboys lack that kind of WR as well.

The Cowboys do not have a prime Randy Moss type player where you can throw it deep to multiple times a game.

Is it the receiver our routes? Maybe on slants or crossing patterns which we don't see a lot. Not so much on hooks, curls or outs which don't tent to produce YAC.

We just need to play harder, we don't need any stinking YACs to win,,,lol

What is the point?
Guys like you always want to remind everyone that Romo didn't get it done but your post there is the exact reason why he didn't. Yeah 13 pro bowlers but everyone knows that the pro bowl is a popularity contest. Gurode made the pro bowl even though he hiked the ball over Romo's head more than a 1/2 dozen times.

Because the QB is awful, that's why. You have to be able to sustain drives in this league. How hard is that for people to understand?

Exactly! And what makes it easier for a struggling QB to keep drives alive, 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 3? Lean on the damn running game to help your QB. I'd rather lose playing to our strength than watching the same ol song and dance.

T.O. and prime Dez were Romo’s best receivers.

Romo will 12 other pro bowlers in 2007, most in Cowboys history, could not lead the Cowboys to the promise land.

Romo did not elevate his play during the playoffs or during must win season ending games to make the playoffs.

It's really just the opposite of what you said which is why it's important to understand what happened in his career.

Those 8-8 years that we needed to win to get into the playoffs were, as we all know now 4-12 teams without Romo. He elevated really bad teams to average, proven by the 4-12 team in 2015. He kept irrelevant teams and an inept organization at least in the conversation.

You're right - 2007 was a perfect example of the potential Romo had with good players around him. Then, in the playoffs agains the Giants Romo had two dropped TD passes, one by Patrick Crayton and the other by Anthony Fasano that beat the Giants.

In the 2009 Divisional playoff game against the Vikings, NOBODY was going to win that game against their defense with our offensive line. Ray Edwards of the Vikings had three sacks, six hurries and a forced fumble against Marc Columbo and that was ONE of their defensive lineman. It was a jail break the entire game. AIkman, Stauback, Brady, nobody was going to win that game with that matchup.

in 2014 he played an absolute perfect game against Green Bay in the Divisional game (after bringing the team back against the Lions in the first round) and threw a potential game winning pass that was taken away that would be legal today. I don't know what else you want him to do. He also should've been the NFL MVP that year.

For virtually his entire career he had a bottom ten Defensive Pass Rating, the most important stat to winning in the playoffs. Only one QB in the history of the NFL won a Super Bowl with a bottom ten DPR was Aaron Rodgers because you play better QB's in the playoffs each week. We will agree Romo was never Rodgers. Seattle had the best DPR in the league for five years, the Legion Of Boom - there's a reason they went to Super Bowls.

Eli won two SB's with the help of two historic defensive playoff runs. They averaged giving up 15 PPG. Romo never had that kind of defense.

Tom Brady three 3 INT's in two separate AFC Championship games - he flat out sucked - and they won them both.

Roethlisberger won a SB with a 37 pass rating.

Did either one of those guys elevate their game in the playoffs or did they have help in the ultimate team sport?

Finally...by Jerry's own admission Romo did his job, Jerry and the organization never did theirs. It's his biggest regret as the Owner of the Cowboys.

All of this probably won't change your mind because it's too easy to dismiss Romo as casual fans will do - but at least you now know and that's something.

in this game....of course. they had three short yardage opportunities to run on 3rd down. they ran once. the rest were 3rd and long and passing situations...

I am going to compare to Carolina and giants game as well.....
