If he bought a 5 star restaurant he would make himself the Head Chef. As business plummeted he would claim that his restaurant was just as good as that "other" 5 star restaurant.

Insisted on being the GM of a team even though he was both unqualified and incapable that led to mostly mediocrity for over 20 years. Yup, must be jealousy!!!!!!!!!

If Jerry truly wanted to win like many of you claim, he would get out of the way and hire the best football GM and coaches money could buy. Anything else is an excuse. Disagree. He wants to win, but he honestly doesn’t think that he and JG are the problem. He’ll say they’ve made mistakes, but....

Not sure if you caught my original post, but I acknowledged the elation component of his response. I wouldn't go any farther than that. If you have an axe to grind with anything else, sorry, can't help you.

Also, this isn't some consensus building exercise, so if you view something different with Jerry's reaction, cool! It's totally okay if we don't agree on this.Totally ok.

A lot of billionaire owners I would chose over Jerry and don't get me started on the most valuable sports franchise in the world crap.
 
he is often accused of having too much hubris. yet he still uses a flip phone.

I have not read the whole thread but this take is pretty close. True, he does want to win his way. The one thing that few outsiders accept or even wish to conceive is even remotely true is that Jones believes he is the only person in the entire world best qualified as the general manager of his team. 29 straight years establishes solid proof of his belief.

No one will (likely) ever convince him someone else can do a better job than him. Outsiders can say Jones is stupid. Insane. Conceited. No problem. However, not stopping for one moment in life and understanding the real reason why Jones will not hand over complete general manager responsibilities to someone else will keep those individuals forever clawing at that own eyeballs.
 
The day Jerry finally fires Garrett will be the day I truly believe he wants to win.

Those other "billionaire owners" have NOTHING on Jerry's resume that I laid out here.

Funny how those at the top always get the most hate. Funny and not at all coincidental.
