If it happened it would be Super Bowl or bust. Bring it on and let’s see if Romo can carry this team to a title. Dak isn’t going to do it and it would at least shut the Romo fanboys up because failure to win will be entirely on Romo’s shoulders since defenses quit being a legit excuse in the 2016 playoffs. Rust stopped being an excuse in Philly week 17.

Bring him back and let’s see if he can do or die. Best case we win a title, worst case Romo fans shut up. Win/win.
The Romo fans will never be quiet. There will be other excuses.

You’re right. Travis Frederick being out will become an excuse even though Looney is playing well. The receivers dropping balls will stop being Dak’s fault and once again be the receivers fault. The hypocrisy and double standards will continue.

I would believe that Romo would be back before Dez. And that's not happening either.

No they won't. That was proven in 2016 when Dak led us to a 13-3 record. I don't want to hear all the excuses like they knew what Dak was then. That was all about putting one person above the team.

I wasn't impressed then, you were.

I'm done as a Cowboys fan if they bring Romo back as a starter this season.

Yes I was. The team was clicking. Better than putting an injury plagued QB back in that couldn't stay healthy. About the only smart thing Garrett ever did.
The offense was as efficient as it was in 2014 and the Romo lovers were hating every bit of it. They were truly Romo-first fans. The way they acted, there is no way I believe they didn’t enjoy the 2015 season more. The Romo lovers (and I used to be one until how they acted disgusted me) relished 2015 as an “I told you so” year to all the Romo haters. Then in 2016, they spent the entire year bashing Dak despite the offense rolling. Everyone but Dak was the reason. They are 10 times worse than Romo haters ever were.

Look Romo's not coming back but Dak was about as responsible for 13-3 as Terrance Williams, It was all Zeke and the O-line. Peyton Manning had a fused neck, came back went to two SB's at 39-40. 36-41 years old are the best years for QB's "mentally". This line and Zeke were brought here for Romo, Dak was drafted to back him up. They got a little too cute and you see that result every Sunday.

my lord, this thread lmao

love him or hate him, Romo might be the most polarizing player to have ever played, not just for the cowboys, but in the entire NFL

Dak will have to try hard to remain a backup in this league when his rookie contract is up.

Living in denial. Dak was brought here to back up Romo until it was proven Romo couldn't stay healthy anymore. Year after year wasted on a QB that couldn't stay on the field. When Romo got hurt in 2016 I was angry because I thought oh great another wasted season. We saw what happened in 2015 when we had nothing backing Romo up. Dak was a surprise. I called him another Quincy Carter when we drafted him. I was wrong then. He was making plays. Nothing like Manning when he won his last SB. Manning couldn't do what Dak did his last year.Dak could move and make plays with his feet too. Can you picture Manning doing that?No matter what happens with Dak going forward ( and I have my doubts about him) keeping him as starter was 100% the right decision.

20 years from now we’ll still have the “if Romo” threads.

Why don’t we have “if Landry” or “if Jimmy Johnson” threads?

What the hell is the fascination? Say he came back and had a few subpar seasons. Then we’ll hear more excuses like “they didn’t give him any WR’s or TE’s”. “The O line wasn’t good enough.” “The coaches let him down” (even though most claim he was the one really running the offense.

The biggest excuse for Romo was coaching and lack of support. What’s changed that will make him so successful? NOTHING.

As much as I respect Ben and his sources, I can't see the Romo thing happening mid season. Maybe after the season if Dak continues to struggle. I'm about 40% on Dez happening in the next 2 weeks. The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that Fisher was on the radio the other night and he still sounded skeptical it would happen. He's the reporter closest to Dez.

I can’t believe there are people who actually believe plying golf recreationally, is harder on the body than playing in the National Football League.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I get it. People miss Romo. That’s fine. He was a lot of fun to watch. But quit lying to yourself people.
