I never understand the "you have to catch that" stuff. No, you don't have to do anything. If you're a great receiver, you'll catch virtually all of those and a whole bunch of other things besides. If you're a good receiver, you'll catch most of those. If you're a mediocre receiver, you'll fail to catch a lot of those. And if you're a bad receiver, you'll miss those and a bunch of other passes will clang off your hands. (Yes, this is oversimplified. There can be bad receivers with great hands who run terrible routes, etc.) Austin didn't catch that ball because he's not a particularly good receiver.

Also, it would have been a 71-yard FG, not 64.
That's because you didn't fill in the blank:

You have to catch that........if you want to start in the NFL. Or if you want a big paycheck. Or if you don't want to get cut.

No..he’s not seeing anything. He is the one who was fine not having playmakers. I was totally in favor of dumping Dez,and still am,but you still need to have a big time WR. But what’s even worse is playing musical chairs with the offense. No,no,no...I’m not checking off on that as a GM/owner. This is what they do though, they go cheap with band aids, and then and ONLY then when it backfires will they relent.

Curious to see if we get a retread coach, or if we do a Parcells type for 3-4 years, before firing him.

I just can't see the Jones' do what the Rams and Eagles did and hand the keys over to a young coach.

I think you're focusing more on the "symptom" instead of the much larger underlying problem with this team.

Due to Jason's dad being in coaching football Jason has been in and around many of the best coaches in the NFL literally his entire life, he and Troy even spent a week at Jimmy's place in Key West when he was first named HC.

Garrett has held numerous coaching gigs in the NFL fron QB coach, OC, and 8 years as HC. With many of his in game decisions we've seen, it's like he just isn't grasping the game.

I think Jerry's friendship with his dad he's trying to show loyalty to Jason....at a high cost. I don't remember a time when Jerry has publically questioned Jason's dicisions until the ridiculous 4th and one decision lst night.......MAYBE Jerry is finally seeing the light.
Nope, he's seen the light before and knows Garrett isn't there yet. He wasn't hired for what he was but for who he is and what they hoped he'd become.

This on the job training for a HC hired by an on the job training GM is a bad idea.

I will say this about Fisher. he drafted McNair who is a lot like Dak and was interviewed at the time we chose Garrett. He did get McNair to a SB.

Jerry had to walk around on eggshells for four seasons when Parcells was here (although he still did his best to undermine him, signing players Parcells didn't want). He doesn't want to do that again. He wants to be comfortable sitting around the table with the coaching staff like he knows what he is doing examining that's week's game. He'll probably enjoy doing it this week, talking about how we should have gone for it on 4th down (he'd be right) to steal a game. He can't do that with a real coach.

You're probably correct, which is my biggest fear.

Jerry is the underlying problem with this team. He’s the one who makes the final ok’s and no k’s,and put this staff in place.
Yep, that IS where it starts......not many legit HC's want to go where he has no say in the coaching staff.....Jerry just hires the coaching staff and tells his HC's.....there ya go, I hand picked some coaches for you...now go win with what I picked out.......Jerry wants to build from the roof down and it won't succeed that way.

Yea but the Lynch Mob know he’s not going anywhere so they need another sacrificial lamb.

Amazingly they had higher expectations for this team. You know . The overly optimistic homers who bash us more realistic fans then need someone’s head when it doesnt turn out like they hoped:)

LETS BE HONEST. Jerry was on the phone last night after that game ended the way it did making calls to HC's in his rolodex. I PROMISE YA THAT. And I promise you one guy is Bob Stoops and unfortunately. another is Jeff Fisher. Stoops is the likely HC tho.
