Using this type of thinking we'd have never made the Herschel Walker trade!!!!!!
Only way to really rebuild is to trade established vets for high draft picks. 3 first round picks next draft is nothing to sneeze at.
Come on, you should know that wasn't remotely the same thing. We didn't just trade one player for one pick. For Herschel, two 3rd round picks, and a 10th round pick, Dallas got Minnesota's 1st AND 2nd round picks in 1990, 1991 and 1992, plus another 3rd and 6th round pick.
After the trade and all the draft maneuverings, Dallas parlayed the deal into 6 first round picks in 3 years, 4 second round picks in those same 3 years, and 6 third round picks in those 3 years, plus multiple lower picks. The Raiders didn't get a fraction of that for Cooper or Mack. They didn't even get anything close to that for both of them combined.
I'm not saying 3 first round picks is something to sneeze at. It's not. But 2 of those picks will be used in an effort to offset the loss of players they already had, and plays that will be hard to match with draft picks.
