We have to do a better job with this stat. No question Dak has his issues but there are lots of variables also not helping (drop passes, 3rd and long, OL breakdown etc). Either way, I'm guessing a large part of our offensive problems are part of this stat

Hawkeye check this out

These numbers are surely incorrect. Dak has taken a total of 23 sacks. They weren’t all on 3rd down.

The proper way to challenge the numbers in the original post is to get data on 3rd down distance to go and see how that affects the rankings.

Edit: OCC also used total attempts rather than 3rd down attempts to arrive at his numbers. Straightforward confusion on his part.

However when you look at home stats vs road stats his 3rd down conversion are 35.4 QB rating of 107. 63% completion rate and 7.6 yards per pass. TD to ints 5-0 at home 3-4 on road. His road numbers have been poor. Cowboys and Dak need to find a way to correct this.

I really hope the Cowboy's run/pass ratio on 1st down evens out a little bit after this break.

That will not fix this issue alone, but certainly will help.

They seem awfully stubborn on this one though.

I wonder what the percentage would look like with all of the conversions that were brought back or the ones that had balls dropped. Or the ones that were give up screens....

I am just disenchanted with "next gen" stats because they seem to only tell a part of the story. Not just for qbs but for anything.

Its not any one stat that matters. Its the package as a whole. He's not a franchise QB.

Why is the 200 yard mark a magic number, or the 300 yard mark.

Because someone was posting that Dad had not had a 200 yard passing game for 5 games or something.

So if Dak passes fro 300 yards every game, but we still lose. Is he now a great QB because he had a lot of yards. Is he now a franchise QB?
there is a lot more involved that just Dak.

Not defending him, or knocking him. But that 200 yards should not be a measurement.
Troy Aikman said, or maybe it was in an article. That in the last 10 years, or 15, or 20 years , or whatever it was.
QB's that threw for less than 200 yards won many more games, than QB's that threw for over 300 yards. And it was by a very large margin.

Name a good QB that averaged 200 yards passing.......... in the last 30 years. Good luck. Post the article b/c that makes no sense. ........

That was not the point.
Not the average, it was games won throwing less than 200 yards, as opposed to game won throwing for over 300 yards.
I do not have a link to the article, or maybe it was in a tweet. I do not do twitter.
It was in a thread on here a month or so ago.
And it does make sense, if you read my post.
