Alex Smith signed a 4 year, $94,000,000 contract with the Washington Commanders, including a $27,000,000 signing bonus, $71,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $23,500,000.

That is the cost of a game manager. Dak at his absolute best is pretty much Alex Smith. Andy Reid had Alex Smith and decided to aggressively trade up for Mahomes. Unfortunately I don't think the Cowboys are intelligent and courageous enough to do something similar. If they were intelligent enough to be proactive then they would have traded up 2 spots for Wentz. The Cowboys re-signing Dak and screwing this franchise for the next 5 years is inevitable. Dak will be an effective game manger again with Cooper.

Dak has a higher ceiling BUT with this coaching staff , he won’t get near his potential. Get us a McVay type coach and Dak can be a QUALITY QB not elite. Smith is trash but Reid made him look great last year. A New system is key

I do think we might get Dak around 25Mpy but I hold a better evaluation of him then yours. Thats just our opinions so lets see.

If I am giving out that kind of contract I would expect wins in the playoffs.

There weren't any quarterbacks that were available for the Commanders to sign that won in the playoffs. They let go of Cousins who couldn't get it done, and he was probably the best QB we've seen hit free agency in years, and he's not even that great. When you're trying to please your fanbase you can't just have some minimum salary unknown QB.

Like in Dak's case I guarantee if we let him walk some other team will pay him that kind of money.

Too much talk about Dak dollars... the guy needs to play much better for the next year-and-a-half before the team talks contract... I sure as hell hope that's the case anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry offers him a lucrative extension after this season. Jerry is that kind of guy.

I like Alex Smith.
good QB.
doesn't make dumb mistakes.
and every where he goes...he wins.
He was labled a bust in San Fran until Jim Harbaugh came to town...since then he's been a solid pro.
Doesn't ***** and moan...just plays.
If Dak is Alex Smith,I'll take it.

You think Captain "dink and dunk" is worth $25 million per year:omg:

He is barely averaging over 200 yards a game and is dead last in the NFL with targets past 20 yards...………$25 mill a season for that?

No words, just no words:facepalm:

If Alex Smith was 25 he’d still be a chief for a decade. Don’t mix up the two circumstances.

Pfft!!

Alex Smith was around that age when the 49ers got rid of him.

People need to stop acting like mediocre players are an asset.

Just look at the Chiefs , with the bus driver, they were going to lose to the first good QB they faced in the playoffs.

Now, with Mahomes , it's on.

I don't watch a lot of Chiefs football. I usually only see stats and highlights. Alex Smith has been posting good stats for some years now so I kinda wondered what the deal was...

I have a friend at work who is s Chiefs fan. Never misses a game. He was glad they got rid of Alex Smith. said that as long as Alex Smith was the QB, the Chiefs needed to play a perfect game to have a chance against good teams. No penalties... not falling behind more than 7 points...defense playing lights out...and God forbid if an Injury happened.. And even then, they could still lose.

Where have I heard a this before?

Perfect conditions rarely happen in the NFL.

He said Mahomes gives them hope.

Bus drivers are for mediocre teams that are just happy to stay relevant.

The Chiefs wanted to be contenders , so they got rid of their weak link.

The Vikings , to a degree , did the same.

The Jaguars decided to keep their "good enough to win with" QB and are paying for it.
