Alex Smith's contract and Dak's next contract

Wouldn’t give either a contract at the moment. Both need perfect situation to play well.
Im not disagreeing with you; however, imagine leading the league in rushing through week 6-7 (?) Like Zeke has only to have Dak trashing it up and losing games.

I think you gotta give Zeke some edge; he probably starts on 95% teams and Dak would only start here or Buffalo.

They should call in all current and excowboys receivers and have them vote on how much to offer him.

I could stand with that decision.

I’d think about signing Zeke as long as he didn’t want to be the highest paid RB. The team wouldn’t be able to afford it and RBs just aren’t that much different if they have good or great Olines. Just not a huge drop off and that one reason many fans don’t agree on who’s the best. It’s usually a lot easier to tell who’s the best QB or WR.

Look at what James Connor is doing in Buffalo. The Steelers made the right decision by not giving Bell a big contract.

I used to compare Prescott to Alex Smith until I realized what an insult that was to Smith.

Same.

If he doesn’t pick up his play to at least manageable performances this offense will get blown up and Dak will be let go

He has two primetime games in a row to show what he can do

Tomorrow night vs Titans and next sunday night vs the eagles in Philly

We don't have a first round pick until 2020. I wouldn't worry about paying Dak but it's not like it'd be all guaranteed money.

Occasionally you can draft a 2nd round QB that can be your QB of the future, but not very often. Most likely there won't be any QBs that are great in free agency either. So I don't mind having Dak next year. If his play doesn't improve by then, draft a QB in the first round in 2020.

Not elite? What is he then? Way better than what we have

Just like I said, he's pretty good. Better than a lot of teams. What's not to understand about what I said?

Elite = Brady, Rodgers. Are you putting Wentz in that category? If not, he's not elite.

His backup QB won a Super Bowl, let's see him prove it and win one. He hasn't even played in a playoff game yet. He's better than Dak but he hasn't proved any more than Dak. He was bad in year one, near MVP level last year, pretty good this year.
