But the first big mistake came when they didn't promote Payton as HC, that set us back over a decade.

If you were a fan in the early 90s, you saw a bigger mistake: not working it out with Jimmy. Worst mistake ever, as it prevented the Cowboys from claiming most dominant franchise ever. 4peat was in the bag.

Why would you be a fan of any other team...the Cowboys have the best stadium in the world. That means more than a Super Bowl and all that matters!

I know you are being sarcastic but I am from Virginia and went to the stadium a few years back. I looked around a bit but not really that much. I keep hearing about how great the stadium is and all the artwork - I could have cared less when I was there. The standing room only was a great view though!

Considering leaving this broken franchise for the first time ever. I never ever missed a game, stuck with them in the Wright, Stoerner, Carter, Leaf days. But always trusted them because they were never afraid to go after impact football people, Parcells for example.

But the first big mistake came when they didn't promote Payton as HC, that set us back over a decade.

But it's all good, we have the best quarterback I've ever seen with Romo, he sure is a mean gunslinger that I appreciate. But we never could figure out the defense, then we drafted Dez, we built the greatest line you've ever seen but it is all led by a (surely a great man) but a horrible HC. He wasted Romo, released the all-time leading guy in franchise history at 29 years old, and lost the team and now the fanbase.

I'm sick if this, I dislike Dak the player, I really don't like Sean Lee and his perpetual injuries and I don't see us competing the next 5 years.

With that said I don't know why we support this team, they dont deserve me.

Dallas is an OK city as well, I'm not even from there, I'm liking New Orleans, it is my favorite city in the country. Go Sean Payton, go Dez Bryant, go the team we were supposed to be but never was.
great statement, I agree 100% as a 40+ year undying fan.....but BE CAREFUL here, they'll run you out of dodge....the self-righteous, "holier-than-thou" will crucify you for "only" giving 30 years of your life in blinded support.

you can;t possibly be a REAL FAN (snicker, sniker, snort snort) becuase you refuse to blindly and foolishly want to follow a team that actually COMPETES for a championship....how dare you!

jerry jones LOVES these devout cult followers. I've been one for over 2 decades......until i just heard JJ state this week he wants to keep JG....i now realize this franchise is beyond ALL HOPE...

I used to not be able to sleep after a loss. Maybe being able to do it comes with age - I am 51 now. It was an odd phenomenon for me the other night. I think up to Sunday I still had a little hope that Dak could turn it around, I woke up once or twice during the night thinking about the game. I have not lost sleep or thought about a loss at night for 2 years. I could not explain why I was feeling that way again. I think that loss was the last step in my program.

I don't know what I am going to feel like going forward as a fan. I think all hope is gone for a while
It’s because you know the season is over. You don’t want to think it but after that game then you know. The last bit of hope for this season is done. We aren’t running the table. The deadskins and or the egirls will win the division. Won’t even come down to the final game and help from other teams. We will be mathematically eliminated after Thanksgiving. I am still bummed about it. Waited all off season for this.

Lol...bye, everyone comes here with this bs, if you're willing to walk away, you wasn't a true fan anyways.
dude you really need to get off your high-horse....your playing "devil's advocate" really is wearing a bit thin. Keep on drinking that Koolaid and supporting our inept FO/HC.......this is an OPEN FORUM and no one here needs your permission or approval to post ther viewpoints.

I really don't know how you change teams. Its heart not mind that picks your favorite team. You can't just change and it be the same.

I however have taken a different approach over the past 3-4 years. Make a conscious decision to not let it ruin my day or week - It works, but does take some of the heart out of it!
I still get bummed out by losses but nowhere near the level I did when I was in my 20's and early 30's. Fanduel helps numb the pain.

I felt the same way when JJ disrespected Landry the way he did. I told myself I would never be a Cowboy fan again; but guess what? I discovered I was a Cowboy fan first, and everything else associated with them came second.

Being a fan has ups and a lot more downs, no matter what team you favor. Each has its shining stars, and each has even more warts. If you want to back a winner, good luck to you. Only one wins the big one, and the rest are losers.

The reason why alot of us feel that was isnt because were losing

Its like taking a moose and entering it into a horse race when you have a clydesdale in the barn

Its the sheer fact Garrett is still HC for me that’s unacceptable i tolerated campo because he just wasnt good at his job but he gave it what he had

Im trying my best to like another team. Been trying to think of one that I could get into. Saints are actually a great one.

Cant stand Dez though. But Im actually happy for him. They gifted him a release from Dallas and the guy might actually win a championship now. I wish him the best. He has a REAL HC, with a REAL scheme, REAL players around him and a REAL QB. He should do well for what he does.

exactly what I've been saying for years.....how can anyone say with conviction or a straight face that Jerry TRULY wants to win, when he has witnessed disastrous results and still clung to the inept garrett knowing he is not an NFL caliber HC

I feel for any Cowboy fan born after 1990, probably too young to enjoy or remember the 3 SB victories. You have not truly seen what a great team and coaching staff looks like

I was fortunate in that I was able to see all the Cowboy SB victories and the players and coaches that made this team what it is today. I understand totally where you are coming from, because if I were a fan of say the Bengals back then I probably would have considered ditching them for another team.

Us old timers were spoiled and is why it hurts so much to see what we have become under this regime.

I have been a fan since I was a kid in the mid 70's. I will never change teams. That said I no longer live the highs and lows of the team. Jerry has beat me down with 20+ years of mediocrity. If they are on and I am home I will watch. Or not. It really doesn't matter like it used to.

I'm kind of the same way. I don't let the bad seasons or weeks bother me like they used to. But it is fun when they're have a good year. Even though there have only really been 3 since '95.

LMAO, I mean seriously....you are COMICAL...."idiotic takes thin for years".....lol, I swear I actually CHUCKLE when i read the garbage you spew out......

Um, I joined this forum Sept 2018.....not sure where your "years" comments comes from......you must have me confused with the other 5,000+ members who confront you and think you're a moron

"Call me to the carpet?"...not sure I understand that one either.....sounds like you are drinking a bit early, may want to save that Arkansas moonshine for when you'll really need it...like when we get out-coached again this Sunday and you need some creative juices to help you show up here on Monday to insult anyone that criticizes our idiot HC

The losing, disappointing results, etc....thats one thing. But the Jones operation basically making fools of us Cowboys fans worldwide is what will beat the fandom out of anyone.

You're absolutely right, but at some point there has got to be a divorce.

Think about it, and pardon me if I am explicit here but people change partners all the time, and they don't mind it if another man is sexually involved with their own ex-wife even the mother of his children, but yet people will never change teams? Why is that? Same for me, it will be hard to change, but it doesn't make any sense lol
Did you catch your team in bed with another owner or coach?

Looks at it this way, you're young and can wait him out. The old coot might outlast me and I won't get to see the team under new management hoping "new boss isn't the same as the old boss".

Winning isn't required for me to stay a fan and I've been through tough times with them before but I don't turn on them unless they quit and even if they do as they did with Wade, I may take a break but I will be back.

I can pull for the Saints or the Vikings but only if my team is out of it.

LOVE IT! ...SKIP SAYS = Now, as a lifelong Cowboy fan, I'm forced to hope they lose the next 5 games badly (at Philly, at Atl, Wash, Dez's Saints, Philly) so Jerry will be shamed into finally firing Jason Garrett, Coach Clap. Monday night's lifeless effort coming off a bye was a fireable offense.

But hey, according to Dre11, Skip is not a REAL fan, LMAO.......sorry Dre11, you're out-gunned, out-manned and out-voted. Time to blow this thing up, top-to-bottom.....

You don't want to be a Cowboys fan any longer? I have no problem with that.
Want to quit watching football all together? I have no problem with that.
Want to switch to a different football team? I have no problem with that.

However I don't need to hear no whiners trying to grandstand on this board how they will no longer be a cowboys fan and still sit on here and whine and complain endlessly about the team.

Again if you complain as a COWBOYS FAN that is one thing. We are pretty much all tired of the team, Jerry, Jason, Dak, Linehan, the offense, the defense or whoever you want to name. It is understandable.

HOWEVER If you want to say you are no longer a Cowboys Fan but you want to stay here and keep complaining from thread to thread...just leave now and spare us your whining. Find another sports team message board and join it. Or just ignore the cowboys all together and feel better about your life.
