Step back and take a look at the QB market. Nobody of caliber will be available next free agency and this is the worst QB draft in some time, especially if Herbert stays.

Cutting Dak to play Cooper Rush or Mike White is pointless. It’s not hard to see how bad the cowboys coaching staff is, and while Dak has played bad, the scheme is so bad that it isn’t an accurate way to judge a young QB. Let a real coaching staff see what they can do in 2019, if it works the team is a real contender if not you go into a much better 2020 QB draft with a talented team and a modern coaching staff. Playing Dak next year doesn’t slow anything down, it just ties up loose ends. If not for the sake of giving him a fair shot, it’ll be for a lack of better options; first round pick or not.

How do you know playing White is pointless?

Who said cut Dak?

The longer you wait to start looking, the longer it will take to find someone. There should be no waiting on starting the search. Maybe Mou don't find anyone right away and you have to play Dak, but start looking and don't make any dumb commitments.

I'll say it again, I have zero problem with Dak as a developmental project and long term backup QB at worst.

2016 was the worst thing that could have happened to him, especially with Romo's injury in Seattle. If Romo could have started another year or two with Dak holding a clipboard and learning, we would be so much better off than we are right now.

So would Dak.
People need to stop with the narrative that Dak would have benefitted from Romo not being injured against Seattle. The practice reports were Dak was not practicing well and was the 4th best QB. It was the perfect storm. Romo and Moore got hurt. They were unable to trade for Nick Foles. If you are going to crush him for his play the last 16 games. Give him credit for the first 24. Dak has made good money off of 2016 through endorsements. If Romo never got injured in that preseason game, Dak may have never started a game in the NFL. He is a success no matter what happens.

And in the meantime, our other young talent keeps aging, as every year someone else says that Dak deserves another chance. Year three should be enough to see what you have in a Player.

It's called "Dak-Extinction and burnt earth is what # 4 has brought to the team....

We need to have the guts to bench DAK and play White and our other QB.

It can't be worst.

It might actually be better which really isn't that positive when you consider how low the quality is with Dak....

...with a different coaching staff.

Dak looks dreadful, but how many players could play well when the defense literally knows your play calls before you do? When your OC refuses to adapt to anything you do well and forces you to run plays that you don't? When they take out your freaking #1 WR on 1st and 10 to telegraph a run play and leave you in 2nd and long every time? When the guy coaching you every day is the same guy you beat out in practice?

I'm just saying. This may be a Dak problem and not a Garrett and Linehan problem, but I'm willing to take the final year of Dak's rookie deal to find out for sure.

Dak holds onto the ball too long, more than 3 seconds. Its the reason he has been sacked so often. Dak can't read defenses that well.

I've been willing to give Dak one more chance since 2017.

I do it every week this year, vowing it's his last one.

It's been the QB tease that never ends!

You can fire Garrett, scott, Jerry, Stephen, the coke vendors, the dancing girls, and the peanut guy, ,, none of that matters if Dak is the one taking snaps on gameday. He is useless and a bum or a useless bum, As long as he is the QB, no coach is going to matter. If they were serious about extending, welcome years of early draft picks.

It really doesn’t get any more honest than this. Well said.

I’m tired of the excuses for this guy. Receivers have gotten open and the offensive line has given him time to throw more times than not. He just can’t play.

I'd like to agree, but his pocket presence is alarmingly bad.

It is indeed, and he certainly has a lot of blame to be taken. However, I think that Garrett deserves a lot of blame as well. I think it's likely both, but I don't like the lot of these QBs in the draft anyway. I'm more intrigued by next year's class.

No dount Garrett (and SL) shoulder the blame. I watched some 2016 and 2017 early games, and Dak is a lot more patient under pressure.

I am even more convinced that Atlanta game did damage which may not be fixable. That game was certainly Red's fault, but if Dak can't get over one beating he's probably not the guy. Aikman took worse when the rules allowed QBs to take much more punishment.

And this is also why is Red stays, were screwed no matter who they bring in.

Sure why not . Maybe 3 consecutive seasons missing the playoffs will be more convincing while having another bottom tier passing offense.

I think one more WR for a first round draft pick is what can save our 2 TE RPO offense that does not use any TEs or design QB runs. Get er done Jerruh.

Good for you bud....but personally I won't give Dak 1 day more as its a dream boat wishful thinking that will never come to pass.
Kid has very little talent at the QB position for the NFL and not WORTHY of another year of this misery.
24 yrs 25 years .....and counting.....

Dak Prescott =Tim Tebow.......

True but the blame everyone but Dak crew needs more scapegoats to feed the blame monster. Dak is now like a character in a horror movie where everybody around him starts getting killed off and nobody has put 2+2 together yet to realize stuff didn't start happening until he was around too long. Next year he will still be the same player and folks will still be on this he's young stuff. I'm willing to give him another head coach but I'm under no illusions like some that a new coach or a rpo offense is the cure all for him. I think he will always be sometimey at best.

Yes, and that means that the next QB more than likely be facing the same scrutiny that Dak is currently facing. I'm sure in that case that there will still be blokes on these boards wondering why the QB is so dreadful in that situation if it goes as I think it will if Garrett is still here. You don't go from standing toe to toe with Aaron Rodgers in a playoff game and beating him in Lambeau to completely incompetent in the span of 3 years unless coaching is horrendous. I understand that teams get tape of the QB, but not many young QBs can match Rodgers shot for shot.

In a playoff game to boot. It's hard to imagine he's THAT broke. I encourage anyone to look at that game again and say Dak can't be a good/great QB. But that was a few years back. He needs to reclaim that mojo, but it's been a long time.
