What kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

Coop is a solid #2. Gallup may end up developing into that too. The Cowboys still don't have a #1. And they'll eventually need one.

They treat Coop like he's a #1, but that's only because he's the best outside receiver on the roster.

Having said that, I like his route running and toughness. He was a necessary addition to the roster...but an upgrade at WR is still needed in the offseason.

Gallups snaps and numbers were increasing prior to Cooper arriving. Have not looked at his snap count since the arrival of Coop. I'm sure they have went down a bit. Gallup will be great but unless you are playing opposite Julio none of this rookie class of WRs are killing it.

As of now, I am not seeing elite level talent in Gallop. But its only the first 10 games of his rookie career. But somehow, you can? Ridiculous.

With Elliott, Cooper, a probably investment in a #1 TE and improved OL in 2019, we don't need Gallup to be elite. I'd settle for numbers like Williams' best seasons, especially in a run-first offense.

I don't care about numbers, I just want play making. This is NOT going to be a prolific passing offense.

Williams never had a 1000 yard season and especially in an offense with a flawed QB, expecting more than 1 receiver to come close would be folly. But 700ish yards and 8ish TDs a year? I can see that for Gallup, especially since he's open at least once a game for long TDs.

He has Dez's ability to go and get the ball, which is the kind of receiver Dak needs. He also has Dez' ability to high-point it over defenders. He's more polished as a route runner, has better hands and seems to have a better football IQ as well.

This is complete BS. I am not arguing that at all. I, unlike you, do not believe that I can look at a player half way through his Rookie Season and determine if he will be a "Low Tier" or "Top Ten" anything. I don't know what he will be. I only know what I see the potential for him to be.
Would I be happy with Gallup as our #1 WR? If he could develop into that, yes I would. That would mean that we have one and that's never a bad thing IMO.

It looks like there is a lot more going on when he runs, can’t put my finger on it.

I like the future of our wideout group a lot more now than before Cooper. Gallup can be a compliment piece and almost a 1 type wr. Along the line of JuJu to AB in Pittsburgh. Not saying our guys are 1 for 1 to those, but I do think they can compliment each other in a similar manner.

These are the same thing (though nobody in the league high-points better than Dez used to) and are also the exact opposite of what Dak needs. Dak needs guys to get separation, and Dez wasn't that, which is why Dak will trust Cooper more almost immediately.

The best comp for Gallup that I can think of is Allen Robinson.

This is not what you have said. You said he will not be a #1 WR but a decent #2. Then you said that you don't see him as a top 10 or top tier WR so he would never meet your criteria for #1. You never said anything about not knowing yet, until you posted it here, to my knowledge.

So perhaps it's best to leave it at that. We don't know yet, which after all, is the truth of it.

Cooper and Gallup with Beasley in the slot isn't a bad Top 3 next year. They need a TE to complete the weapons.

OMG...…...Gallup to me is already head and shoulders better than Williams. I hated Williams as a #2.

I think the jury is still out. He has the potential to be because he uses his hands well and is physical at the point of the attack, which are two traits that Williams lacks. Both of them are pretty good route runners and can get open deep as well as short as the No. 2 or No. 3 option.

Williams had 44 catches as rookie in 16 games (8 starts) for 736 yards (16.7) and 5 TDs.

Gallup has 15 for 275 in 9 (4 starts) and 1 TD.

Different circumstances make it difficult to say that Gallup wouldn't put up those numbers or better in the right situation, but right now, I don't think a clear argument can be made that he would.

I like what I've seen, though, and I think his style of play will mean that he becomes a better receiver than Williams. I just think sometimes we jump on board before we see where the train is going.
