What kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

The problem is some people can't get past the thought that he was drafted in the 3rd round so since he was drafted in the 3rd round he can never be a bigtime receiver.


My point is that the door is wide open as to what he can be and like ABQ said this guy could be in OROY conversation if the QB was better.

Wasn't Terrell Owens a 3rd round pick?

Don't really know that without an accurate QB who can anticipate. He's been open quite a few time.....deep and Dak either didn't see him or just missed him.

You can just tell when he catches the ball and runs with it. I really like the kid, but he is NOT #1 type talent. No doubt with a more prolific QB his stats would be much better. Plenty of receivers have monster games all of the NFL and they aren't #1 types.

If we got a good TE that commanded attention in the middle of the field, with Gallup and Cooper on the outside, Beasley working underneath and the threat of Zeke...could be a scary offense. Even with Dak at QB.

If Dak could anticipate players being open what kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

He could seriously be considered one of the top offensive rookies if his QB could find him.

That guy is a talent.

I was about to post as much but thought I'd see first if there was an open thread.

That guy can SKY, and if he and Dak could get some chemistry we really could have a super-solid offense. Dak missed him for at LEAST a 40 yard gain if not a TD. What aren't we targeting him in the end zone on jump balls, fades?

I think it's too early to say what Gallup is.

We've seen the flair. We've seen the acrobatic catches.

There is really no holes in his game. The fact he has flashed like he has in this offense says a lot.

He just needs to get better with the routes. Cooper is on another level as a route runner but I will not be surprised if Gallup surpasses him as a player.

I doubt he ever surpasses him as a route runner though. Coopers route running is really incredible.

But if he does learn to run routes like Cooper, look out.

Gallup has better wheels than I thought he had. He really was moving on that screen pass.

His official time at the combine was 4.51 but he ran a 4.42 in his first pass and then eased up on his second run with a 4.60. He has really good deep speed. His 10 and 20 split are rediculous at 1.57 and 2.63.

Well, to me, this kid has all the natural talent to be a #1. He's fast enough, quick enough, strong enough, he can out jump most people and he has a great catch radius. He has to get better with his route running but what rookie doesn't have to learn that? He makes tough catches, I just don't know what else you might want from a guy? If he had played in a major conference, he would have been a #1 pick, no doubt. Because he played in the Mountain West, he was not ranked as highly. That's really the only reason to me.

Well let me pose that question to you? Besides a busted coverage where he was wide open for a long pass or the fact that he can get open, what do you see that makes you believe that he can be a top 15, elite receiver in this league? Because that is what I am talking about.

Yah, Im not seeing that as of yet. You keep using the word "enough". Which is what I am talking about. He is good in all those areas you mentioned, but not elite in any of them. Fast "enough" but not elite speed, strong "enough", but not elite strong.

You look at a guy like Cooper and he is elite at several things:

-Elite route running
-Elite 4.3 speed
-Elite YAC ability
-Good size, strong
-Lacks great jump ball ability.

Well, since it appears that you have no criteria to base your opinion on, as evidence by not answering the question, I will tell you. I have pretty much already answered this question but I will list them again.

Catch Radius, it is exceptional. Deep speed, especially for his size, is very good. Quickness off the ball is exceptional. Strength is NFL quality right now and he's only going to get stronger. He can go up and get the ball, high points really well and can out jump most defenders right now. Strong hands, smart, good character, I mean, what else do you want?

Once he become more trustworthy in his route running, he and Dak will click the same way Dak and Amari have immediately clicked. It'll be fun to watch Dak, Amari, Zeke, Gallup, and (insert TE name here) grow together.

Ive already answered the question on here as to why. Im just trying to figure out why you think this kid can be an elite receiver in this league.

All those things you are mentioning is saying that he is "NFL quality" type stuff. That doesn't make an elite receiver. I think you and I are talking about two different things. You are saying he can be a good receiver and I am talking about being a great receiver.

I very much like Gallup, but I just don't see enough elite stuff in him. And really, after 10 games with Dak throwing to him, its pretty laughable that you are sitting here saying that you do.

I think Dez is a terrible comparison. They are two much different receivers. I actually don't see Gallup in that class with Dez in his prime.

But I do very much like our receivers going forward. But yes, they need a pro bowl type TE to do with them.
