Amari revisited

I'm happy with him. He's not a diva. Agree about his receiving abilities. I see him as a captain next season.

I would have traded up to get Goff or Wentz, you know, like the Eagles and Rams did....

One has a Super Bowl ring, while the other is playing like he'll be the top QB in the league for years to come. But we have Zeke and a bust WR....

Yeah, we're really on the cusp of greatness.
Yeah I'm sure thats what you were saying when the 2016 draft was coming around lmao. Your hindsight shows no bounds!

Ahhh but that wasnt the question. Now youre trading up, so you really have nothing to ***** about because there wasnt an oppurtunity for us to pick one.

A bust WR lmaoOOO

We get it. We havent picked a 1st round QB in forever, and over alot of that time we had no need for one, and we very rarely picked at the top of the draft. So you can complain about the use of 1sts, but you have to put it into perspective. The rams and Eagels had the 1st and 2nd picks.

Because they didn't want to swap picks...not only that but it's clear the Cowboys and Raiders have a great relationship they have been trading with each other every year.
To the first part: right. So that deal was basically null. We can't argue "Well, the Titans offered a first round pick too" because that deal was rejected by the Raiders.
To the second part: All the more reason Jerry should have been able to negotiate this deal without giving up a first-round pick. He could have/should have used that great relationship to offer a second rounder and a fourth or third or maybe even a second or third in 2020.

Still need that little speedster when he goes into the slot.

I think a TE would do more then someone zipping through the slot.

With Dak as the QB I think Beasley is the best option for this team because Dak isn't very good throwing down field but a TE downfield that's a bigger target and could stretch the safeties would be huge for Dak and the offense. At least that guy could clear some space if nothing else for our WR's.

I'm not talking about in the slot, i'm talking about a guy on the outside that can burn the defense from the outside so Cooper can have more room when he's inside the slot.

...uh, your question was what QB I would have taken. I would have traded up and taken a QB. Are you being intentionally stupid? 2 teams further back to us in the draft BOTH JUMPED US TO GET THEIR QBs. To pretend we couldn't have done this to get our franchise guy is ridiculous, it's not even hindsight - you think the Cowboys don't discuss these things before the draft? Jesus.

> a bust WR lmao

He was drafted high in the first, was let go before his rookie deal was up due to disappointing play for a year and a half. That's a bust, dude. But he got 75 yards with us, the next Jerry Rice.

> over alot of the time we had no need for one

From 97-2000 Aikman was either injured or looked washed up - avoided getting a QB. Romo from 2013 to 2016 had multiple injuries, was in his mid 30s, we avoided getting a QB.

We had a small stretch from 89-97 and 2006 to 2013 and between and after all those years we avoided taking a QB in the first or making the moves to get our franchise guy.

Next time you respond to me, how about you remember what you responded to me with beforehand?

If the teams finishes with less than 7 wins it’s a bad trade. But I’m thinking we finish 8-8 so it’s a decent trade if so.

The trade wasn't just for one season. Besides, how in the world is 8-8 notably different than 7-9? It's just a slight variation of half-assed either way.

I said less than 7 wins...and the reason why is because that would result in a top 10 pick.

Ahh - that makes some sense, but how much lower would a pick be at 8-8? And are we even sure 7-9 would get us a top 10 pick? Right now there are 17 teams with the same record as the Cowboys or worse, so I can envision the possibility that there will be more than 10 teams at 7-9 or worse.

In any case, again, this wasn't just a one year trade, so if Cooper is a top receiver for Dallas for several years we probably got a good deal even if it cost a top 10 pick. Of course, the contract will be higher than for a rookie, but the odds of the pick being a bust are eliminated, so that's not a bad trade off.

Amari has looked solid if unspectacular the last two weeks. I like the player, but giving up a top 10 pick is rich for anyone.

But I totally understand the trade. Cowboys don’t like the QB class, which is admittedly weak, and want to give Dak this and next year with a good receiver corps. If he looks like crap, they draft a QB in 2020.

That seems to be the plan. I agree he hasn't been spectacular, but I don't think anyone really blames him for that. The Dallas passing game just isn't spectacular, both because of the play on the field, and the run heavy offensive philosophy. But if you watch the games and the videos of the routes Cooper is running, that really is spectacular. I can't remember watching anyone more adept at running routes, and duping DB's. The guy is pretty amazing in that regard.

If Amari keeps playing like this, then I will consider the amari trade fantastic. We have a receiver who is already playing at a high level as opposed to having a guy who we will have to take a gamble on and hope he turns out. Receivers take a while in most cases to acclimate to the NFL. Just consider Amari a drafted player that we get months earlier than usual. The only downside is Amari's contract, but then again if our 1st round pick receiver sucks, then that doesn't matter too much.

It was rejected because the Cowboys offered a better deal lol. Let me get this straight...you think the Raiders would take a 2nd rounder and a 4th or 3rd rounder for Cooper as opposed to taking a 1st and swapping 2nd's from the Titans lol?You think our 2nd rounder was worth more than the Titans 1st rounder lol?
