It’s obvious the cowboys miss Dez in the redzone.

Not to make this a Dez thread. But clearly our coaches don’t know what to call, without having a guy like Dez who can outmuscle and outjump a defender for a touchdown.

Missing Witten also hurts.

Tier 2 simply means Dallas was able to beat two teams that suck about as bad as they do.

A few weeks ago these were going to be 2 losses according to the crybabies in here. Then after we win they didn’t matter because the teams sucked anyway.

This seems to happen a lot.

I think they missed some plays. I think the playcalling isn’t as good as it could be. The playbook could definately be upgraded.

But I also think that much like us the falcons back was against the wall and I think they played as hard as they could and likely threw there kitchen sink at us.

Our Offense will continue to get better. And hopefully come on and get healthy towards the end of the year.

I don't know about Dez or Witten, but when you have the stinkin ball inside the 10, (like the 5 yd line) and pass it 3 times, that is just crap play calling. How many times this season has the OC called 3 pass plays in the red zone?

OC-"They think we are going to run it on 1st down so we will pass".
"They think we are going to run it on 2nd down so we will fool them and pass".
3rd down: now we have to pass cause it 3rd and goal from the 7.
Result: 3 incomplete passes and kick the field goal.

Yes, the defense has improved and seems to be the strength of the team but the name of the game is points. And it is not a shut down defense.

Elliott is playing great and the OL seems to be better; however, our run game is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Scoring in the low 20's isn't going to get it done.

The reality is that the Cowboys have beaten two 2nd tier non playoff teams with losing records that are pretty evenly matched with them as the scores would indicate. And it is great to put two wins back to back and away at that; however, this team is not a tier 1 team.

Two road games(one division rival) against desperate teams is not the same as what you describe.

These were good wins.

Just enjoy it.

Cole Beasley drops a pass that hits him in the hands about once a season, take out that play and we put more points on the board early and ride Zeke to a bigger point differential. And Atlanta beat us by 20 points last year, its not like they don't have talent.

I agree. I watched the NO game after. It is like they play a different game. Up tempo. Motion. Formations. WRs picks cleverly disguised. Running game well timed. Vertical plays to set up plays in the box. A completely different game. IT IS NOT DAK'S FAULT!!!

Actually the play call worked perfectly, they hit their most surehanded WR in the hands on a play where he was open. But he dropped it.

You’re 100% right. I was speaking to the passing troubles in the redzone. But they do need to run Zeke more. Zeke is a dominant redzone running back and they try to get cute, far too often.

No question the offense is not gong to take them anywhere. A significant problem is the play calling that somewhat magnifies the issues on offense.

Without a top tier QB, the NFL is tough place to win these days. Watching Ryan and Brees play from the pocket yesterday, avoiding the rush and making plays downfield made it quite obvious where the Cowboys need drastic improvement.

Cowboys may sneak into the playoffs, may even get out of the wildcard round, but I don't see them beating the Ram and Saints, though we will have a good look at that in 10 days.

CC, my dear old friend, remember... the Cowboys offense left at least 8 points off the board... just like they do every week. Beasley dropping that easily for sure TD in the endzone cost the Boys 4 points. Maher missing another FB cost us another 3. Plus, Maher missing an easy extra point FG cost us another point. That's 8 points left off the scoreboard. The score easily should have been Cowboys 30 - Falcons 19. This game should not have been so close. Sure the offense was boring with its constant dink-n-dunks, but the Cowboys simply took what the Falcons gave them. Still led to a win, but the bigger problem was the Cowboys once again self-keeping points off the scoreboard.

what we do have...……………………..best rb in the game, imo. excellent group of 3 wr's with cooper, Beasley and gallup. outstanding o-line once again. qb is iffy. with fast tempo game he does well.
what we don't have...…………………...a good hc or oc. both need to be upgraded. i'd love to see matt lafleur, the titans oc as our next hc. of course it won't happen, but I can hope.

Anyone who thinks they're more than the 5-5 team they are today hasn't been paying attention. They should still be 6-5 soon, I see just about no scenarios where they beat the Saints though.

They are 5-5 because they are terrible at throwing the football.

A lot of teams are going with a run heavy offense including the Saints and Seahawks. We just need to keep pounding them with a good running game and it will open up the passing game. You could see it in the second half yesterday.

If that is a correct assumption, it could also mean the coaches lack confidence in Prescott throwing the short fade pass in the red zone--allowing a jump ball catch-and-reception opportunity in the end zone.

Luckily, you don’t need to be a tier 1 team on November 19th to have a chance. Look at the giants twice, the ravens, etc. just in the last decade.

They’re trending in a positive direction. Let’s wait and see what happens.
