Garrett's Locker Room Tears: Is it good or bad?

Yes, and that was the moment when he really started to tear up, I noticed. He must have had a massive wave of emotions when he said that and heard what Gallup had to say.

Isn’t it his first Thanksgiving since losing his dad? Between that and the Gallup situation I’m sure he was very emotional.

Does anyone think Garrett would make a great GM? It seems he knows how to get the right players and connect with them. Team is homegrown and most players clearly view the team and Coach Garrett as family. Just thought I’d throw that out there I wonder if the Jones’ would ever consider it.

I'd be thrilled to see Garrett as our GM. I think he'd do brilliantly at that here. He's done well to help get the right players here, and I think he connects well with people. He seems like an incredibly nice chap, and I'd love to meet him at some point. I just don't think that he's the sort of HC that will take us to the Super Bowl or win one for us, and he's shown that for the time he's been here.

First of all, this is not a bash Garrett thread. Let's have intelligent discussion. To those of you who have played sports or ever had a coach of any kind, is it good or bad that Garrett cries in front of the team after practically every win? I ask because men tend to perceive crying as weakness. I can tell that they all love Garrett. I also heard about Landry and Parcells crying on rare occasions. I know they were both highly respected. The situation with Gallup is understandable, but Garrett cries over everything. As a woman, I think it"s awesome, but what do you men (and women) think? Can a leader of men cry a lot and be successful?

I don't care he cries alot. I care that he's not a good coach.

But if it takes him to connect with his team emotionally thru crying then I feel there is something wrong.

Garrett needs to be a leader. He preaches RKG and all that. Yet the team is very undisciplined and sloppy. His playcalling is bad. Thus he should not be hiding under a bed of tears.

So maybe they like him because he cries? I don't buy into that.

First I want to go on record..

I like women, always have.

And certainly you may ask what we think about it..crying.

Crying is usually over emotional moments.

In the locker room Thursday..

I thought I understood Garrett to get emotional over the mention that the players should reach out to family and be thankful.

But that Garrett who was close to his father who passed away..

was reacting that way because his father was gone.

Did I get that wrong?

As for men crying..

the men in my family growing up kissed each other on the cheek..

that was as cheeky as it got.

Crying was not allowed.

My Dad was an FBI agent for 30 years.

Never saw one tear ever.

Except maybe back in '72 when we won the SB with Stauback.

Garrett is a really nice
Decent guy. He shows class and the ability to keep the team motivated. I would have NO PROBLEM WITH HIM STAYING ON! Yes indeed, when they bring a real coach in,
if RHG wants to stay on as an extra mascot, I’ll allow it!

Exactly. He’s a nice guy. So was Campo. I think Campo might do better with this roster as he was winning 5 games per year with a D2 roster.

It's easy to see why the guys never quit on JG. I still want him fired. He is not a good coach. It's Richards coach D keeping Dallas in the playoff race. I still don't think 2 long Cooper TD runs frightens teams yet...

As someone who almost never sheds a tear it takes a lot to make me cry.... That said though, I think a man should be able to express emotion without having his man card revoked. But to an extent. God knows mymwife wod love it if I expressed more emotion. A man who cries at everything isn't a man IMO. Men are logical, where as women are emotional.

Don't know anything about Garrett's crying though as this is the first time I heard about this.

I'm pretty sure Landry never shed a tear after the doctor slapped his butt when he was born. Choked up maybe.

I think he connects with his players and that is a good thing as his teams always play hard.

Where he loses it is in player evaluations, game planning etc. He needs a top level staff around him and that is lacking with Linehan and Kellen Moore. With the amount of parity in the NFL these days, you have to have coaches who gave put you over the top in my opinion.
