Garrett's Locker Room Tears: Is it good or bad?

Didn’t JG’s father pass away earlier this year? Maybe it’s the holidays, and JG understands what Gallup is going thru. Nothing wrong with getting choked up after an emotionally game.

My Dad is a retired US Army Col and a Vietnam Vet whom I love and respect and one of the times I felt closest was to him growing up was when he cried in front of us during a crisis. It let me in to his heart.

Good leaders don’t have to be perfect. They do need to be real and care and serve those they lead. It’s clear Garrett cares about his team, and they care about him. You can criticise his game management and decisions— but criticisizing him for showing some heart and emotion to the men he is leading is being petty IMO

I’ve never seen him crying after games. I’m not saying he hasn’t, but I have a hard time believing it’s as frequent as the OP indicates. Even so, who knows what he was feeling. He’s obviously been under stress this year, and somebody suggested the situation with Gallup’s brother may have been part of it. I don’t se the harm. Dick Vermeil was a notorious cryer.

First of all, this is not a bash Garrett thread. Let's have intelligent discussion. To those of you who have played sports or ever had a coach of any kind, is it good or bad that Garrett cries in front of the team after practically every win? I ask because men tend to perceive crying as weakness. I can tell that they all love Garrett. I also heard about Landry and Parcells crying on rare occasions. I know they were both highly respected. The situation with Gallup is understandable, but Garrett cries over everything. As a woman, I think it"s awesome, but what do you men (and women) think? Can a leader of men cry a lot and be successful?

I’ve never seen any of my football coaches cry in High School or College. It wouldn’t bother me at all but I would probably have found it funny if he did it after every win. If you’ve ever been in a locker room setting, you know the jokes will come a flyin’ out of the Coach crying became a habit. I remeber tearing up at the end of my high school career after losing in the state playoffs. My position coach consoled me. No emotion at the end of my college career. Just a damn I can’t believe it’s over. An occasional cry is definitely not an issue, imo.

We are humans. We have emotions, we cry. The fact that the notion exists that if men cry they are weak, is the dumbest thing in all of mankind. This is the main reason why men have so many issues, because we think it is bad if we cry. Men, who don't cry are emotionally unstable and usually have a plethora of personal/social problems. it is unhealthy not to cry. JG cares about this team, their hustle and adversity they have faced. Hell, just being a member of this team, adersity will be a challenge for you. Double hell, as Cowboy fans, WE face adversity because of the team we root for. Conclusion: People should not be judged, for anything, in regards to if they cry or not. Come on now.

As someone who almost never sheds a tear it takes a lot to make me cry.... That said though, I think a man should be able to express emotion without having his man card revoked. But to an extent. God knows mymwife wod love it if I expressed more emotion. A man who cries at everything isn't a man IMO. Men are logical, where as women are emotional.

Don't know anything about Garrett's crying though as this is the first time I heard about this.

He gets choked up a lot. I shouldn't have said crying.

I'm pretty sure Landry never shed a tear after the doctor slapped his butt when he was born. Choked up maybe.

Landry cried once in front of the team. I read about it. Parcells cried after we beat NYG in his second game as Cowboys coach.
