Dallas will need to make decision on Lee after season

I don't think Lee is all about the money. Didn't he forfeit $2m a couple of seasons ago when he could have stayed on the active squad?

Isn’t he on a performance based contract meaning he only gets most of his money if he actually plays?

Love Lee like most others in here; I am on the fence...he takes up cap space, but the thought of him being on the field for 50% of the plays along with the big Two is very enticing...I try to step aside mentally and not sound like a homer, but it really isn't that - when he is healthy and on the field, he is dynamic....

....I say try to stretch out his contract for an extra year or two with no guarantees with the transition into coaching when he is ready...but not yet

I don't see Lee going anywhere but two things need to happen, the bubble wrap needs to be off of him during training camp and preseason, stop with all the days off, he needs to play to get into football condition and two, he needs to do a lot less leg work in the weight room, and more stretching instead of squats, his hamstrings are too tight!

I as much said if he doesn't get work in training camp and preseason games, he's going to pull his hamstring early in the season and battle it all year like what's happened before..

Keeping Lee will be a great because if LVE or Smith goes down at all, we will not see the production from the backups. Lee will be gone if we decide to pick up a LB just as good from FA.

They will not release him.

If anything they could extend him a couple of years and lower his cap hit.

But they are not doing what they did with Dez.

I'm not sure about all that. You may be right, but you act as if it has already happened. They did it with Romo, they finally moved on from Dez. What makes you think Lee is untouchable?

I think Lee playinga s a Cowboy is 50/50 next year. But unless he takes Wilson's place I don't think he will be a starter.

Nonsense. There is a net cap gain of 7 mill if he's cut. Literally no reason to spread the hit

It looks like in the effort to smell your own farts as quickly as possible, you mistook salary cap hit for dead money.

"Literally no reason". Except Lee isn't going anywhere.

That's the reason he gets another year on a contract, possibly two just to leverage salary cap accounting. You spread cap over future years you arent beholden too, working the magic of the time value of money, especially with future cap dollars being less valuable per capita than present day dollars.
