Exactly Joe - and although you didn't say it, I will.
We probably win the Division, but get beat in the playoffs and the residual effects are--
Garrett keeps his job.
Linehan keeps his job.
Dak gets his contract.
We can only pray Jerry doesn't give Dak a max contract. I think Dak deserves an extension but as Parcells always says - you know about a player after three years. Giving Dak anything over 18 million per hamstrings the organization with others like Zeke, Cooper and Ware who are coming up.
It would be disastrous.
We are held hostage by recent bias - yes we've won but really, how have we won compared to other dynamic offenses.
We could be stuck in horrific oblivion for several years with a great defense but average offense, below average quarterback and limited options in free agency in an increasingly offensive minded league.
I like Dak as a person, leader, and competitor but so was Tebow.
Make no mistake, we will be perpetually behind the curve without a consistently good to great quarterback in a conference that has Goff, Brees and Wilson, an emerging Trubisky a healthy Garoppolo and a competent Cousins and let's not think Aaron Rodgers will be down for long.
