he does not have great coaches I understand that but a lot of what is going on with Prescott is all on him. coaches can only do so much the rest is up to Prescott either he has the talent to do it or he does not. right now he does not.

Another QB failure in a long line of them.

What we need to do is save our money..

play him again next year and wait for 2020 and draft or sign a good FA QB.

Quincy was on Dope, Dak is not.

BTW who do you suggest we sign or draft since we do not have a 1st rounder.

Like I said before Dak's 1st 3 years are better then some of the great HOF QBs, including our very own Troy Aikman.
 
I still think we make the playoffs just because that win against Philly last week was crucial. But I think us beating the Saints says as much about us as Philly beating the Rams says about them. Is Philly a Super Bowl team all of a sudden like people thought we were two weeks ago? Probably not. It's a mixture of your overall season and how you've been playing recently. Although we won 5 in a row, we only really beat one good team and we had serious problems on offense in all those wins. The Colts, on the other hand, have been red hot and beat some good teams recently. They're playing like a team that could win the Super Bowl. And they might not even make the playoffs because of their slow start. We still could win the Super Bowl because our defense has been great, but that loss yesterday exposed a lot of issues that many of us have been screaming about even during our winning streak. If we don't fix our problems, we'll get embarrassed again in the playoffs.

I get it. However during the game, if heard the broadcasters they were talking about Luck and his comeback. I know it's a different animal but Luck was very frustrated for a long time struggling before/after his injury and they said Coach Riech set him up for success for difficult situations which helped him start clicking (better than ever). Again a different animal but I think we could get some much better qualified coaching based on resume/experience alone.

In fairness to Dak…..with all his flaws......wouldn't it be fair to him to get someone coaching him as a QB coach, that has a NFL resume to hang his hat on?

Romo never had a defense this good. We never got to see Romo with Zeke. Romo would have turned Allan Hurns into Laurent Robinson. Imagine if he had Cooper also?

Jerry and Jason screwed up.

He isn’t a Quincy Carter clone. A more appropriate choice would be Jason Campbell. Campbell had some early success but developed into a QB that held the ball until the WR was wide open. It led to him taking a beating and fumbling some but not really throwing many ints. He had some intermittent success along the way but not enough to even mean anything and he was soon a backup and out of the league soon after that. We’ll see if Dak follows a similar path or overcomes his shortcomings.

There style of play are not similar.

When Quincy was at UGA and high school, the spread option offense was not en vogue. Quincy ran a pro set and standard option offense at UGA. Quincy was inaccurate but could make big throws with his baseball player arm talent and with his feet running. Quincy was way faster than Prescott running 4.50-4.58 40 yard times. Quincy was more explosive and athletic. However, Carters last year at UGA he completed 49% of his passes.

Dak ran a Tim Tebow style and spread offense out of high school. At MSU, he had the same offense, and his Head coach was Tebow's OC at Florida. However, Dak could throw the ball. He was accurate. He was not consistent but accurate in percentage. Dak also is a more accomplished runner with the football (maybe due to the offense). Prescott is a 4.7 40 yard time runner using his power frame vs. Quincy using quickness and speed. However, Dak completed 66% of his passes his last year at MSU.

Basically Dak is a Tim Tebow that can throw and has the "it" factor as a winner. Quincy was a slower version of Michael Vick that would make the thrill plays but never had the "it" factor as a winner. Quincy was an athlete playing QB with arm talent. Dak is a football player playing QB with football talent. Styles and approach are very different.

Dak tosses 440 in a W against Philly (which by the way is a helluva lot better than Goff did against this very D yesterday)...

Then throws for 208 yds and 62% pass completion with no Zack Martin and no Tyron Smith, which resulted in a max protect, dumbed down gameplan (blame Linehan, not Dak for that)...

Against a team playing well, and for their playoff lives, in their place...

And all of a sudden Dak sucks again? This is a riot.

For the LAST TIME people -- Dak Prescott is about as good as one would normally expect from a 4th round QB. See Kirk Cousins, who folds like a cheap suit against a good D. Y'all want these guys to be Brees or Ben, Goff or Wentz. The difference is those guys were first round picks. Brady and Romo? The Cowboys and Pats got lucky and struck gold, and they know it.

Problem is for every Romo and Brady, there are countless other QBs taken in rounds 4-6 that don't make it.

If not Dak, then who? No one will really be satisfied until that clear-cut franchise QB rides into town. Problem is, in most cases, that guy is typically gone by round 2.

Are there examples of NFL QBs who learn to make multiple reads and gain pocket presence beginning in their 4th season?

Nothing wrong with a 4th round QB not being good enough, you just don’t re-sign him to anything other than a backup role.
 
Quincy had much better potential as a passer, but I did hold my breath anytime he threw deep beyond the camera
