We haven't had many answers offensively most of the year. Without some big yac plays from coop we'd be dead by now.

There was simply a lack of effort from the Cowboys players.

Effort was definitely an issue. However the scheme did not help and Cam really breaks down how easily the Colts took away LVE and Smith and Dallas did not adjust. Basically how we know Garrett and Linehan expect the offense to win 1:1 battles is essentially what the defense was expected to do. Cowboys did not adjust the scheme to help LVE and Smith.

Watching Dak this year reminds me of how Romo changed his playing style after JG took over the offense and wanted Romo to become more like Brady and less like Favre. More of a pure pocket passer. Romo stopped scrambling and ended up taking sacks much more than he did before this "Brady" make over.

I remember many fans asking the same question we are today with Dak. Fans wanted Romo to go back to scrambling more instead of being a sitting duck in the pocket. Fans wanted to have more plays with a moving pocket. More roll outs. Etc.. etc..

It's like JG is coaching these guys not to be a mobile QB. Romo eventually started to go back to being himself but still didn't play like he did under Parcells/Sprano.

Which was a reflection of the way many here felt about the game--it wasn't necessary to win, take the week off. Did the players and coaches feel that way also?

Whenever you see a team loses the way the Cowboys lose, you put on the tape and you will see what this analysis shows. The winning offense beats the losing defense at the LOS. The Colts were running at their strength, which is they OGs. What you see is the Cowboys DTs get beat one on one allowing blockers to get on the LBs. You see every Colts player get a block on the guy he is assigned to. No one misses and assignment or gets beat. Of course if that weren't the case, the score would not have been 23-0. But remember, this is the same team that was shut out by the Jaguars just two weeks before, the same Jaguar the Cowboys pushed all over the field.

But, if you want a lesson in how to build a dynasty, watch the breakdown of the Cowboys offense against the Colts defense and compare it to the Cowboys defense against the Colts offense. The Colts clearly attacked Connor Williams and used power against him. Looney also had his worst game of the year. When Su'a-Filo went out they attacked Redmond as well and he was simply overwhelmed. The lesson is be strong up the middle on both sides of the ball, build around offensive and defensive fronts. You win a lot of game controlling the LOS.

Great analysis. Isn't that what coaches should do? You get the team ready according to the opponent. What's more, you make in-game adjustments when you see the opponent's soft spots. This is something the coaches should be accounted for not the players and unfortunately we do not have capable coaches at all.

I dont know if its a lack of effort but the intensity they had in the Saints game has dropped off.

The OL was not at its best, but Dak needs to slide in the pocket and buy time. He just stands there like a statue or when he does slide, he goes right into the defense. What is causing this problem? Is he just not seeing it? He's definitely athletic and mobile enough to extend plays. I can't believe for a second that the coaches aren't telling him to stand in one spot so the defense can find him or that he doesn't watch the tape and realize he should do it. So what is the actual problem?

That was a good breakdown. It was sad to hear him say "everything the Colts were doing to Dallas, is what Dallas should have been doing to the Colts"

Did you watch the breakdowns, or simply lack of effort? The Colts had great plans on either side of the ball and we weren't prepared or adjusted to their schemes. Some may have been lack of effort, but a lot looks like they weren't prepared to see how the Colts were going to attack us on offense and defense and we never could adjust to it. We made mistakes, no doubt, but many of those mistakes were forced by the Colts by how they game planned and prepared for the game.

It was a great plan but LVE and Jaylon several times made bad reads that put them out of position to make tackles and or just flat out missed tackles.

I hate that the scheme to take our LBers out have come right before the playoffs as a blueprints.

It will definitely be challenging going into the playoffs on both sides of the ball if not adjusted.

But I can say I trust our defensive coaches to adjust before I trust the offensive coaches to adjust.

Not as worried.
