Isn’t it crazy a 5-1 start was enough to bench HOF romo?

Meanwhhile Foles won a Super Bowl and Wentz’s job was secure as ever. This tells me that jerry jones and garret simply didn’t believe romo was great. Great enough to outplay a raw 4th round rookie with little starting reps.

I'll go to my grave convinced that was JG's call, not Jerry's. It's one reason I would love to see JG get fired. It would be hugely poetic justice for him to get shown the door after going full Benedict Arnold on Romo, especially after Romo carried him for 6 years.

Anyhow--back to your point--
JG was so confident in Dak, he wouldn't even allow an open competition for the job once Romo was healthy.

Yeah, sounds like he was real confident Dak was the clearly superior QB. LOL

It tells me that you are painting a picture to suit a view point. The reality is that if Tony were healthy, he would have been the starter and that's really not even anything to argued over. It's just the truth.

JG was a qb himself so he can assess talent. It’s seems he thought Dak gave the cowboys the best chance to win.

Bro. I think Jerry was forced into moving on as much as I love romo at the time he wasn’t the right choice. Dak has won 11 straight and was on a amazing run, how much of it was just right situation right time...I think all of it as this year proves. This team isn’t much has lumps but at the end of the day they believe in the coach and they believe in the system and the QB so players play hard. Back to my point is Romo/Dak split the locker room and Dak people won that argument. For Garrett he had a new QB to mold how he saw fit. And for Jerry a young and Easy convincing QB to sign to a cheap tram friendly deal. Of course that’s just my 2 cents

Yes, he was a QB so he understands how important it is to have a guy who can actually not start while in a wheel chair.

He was a backup QB. He knows backup caliber talent.

And he seems to have gotten exactly that in Dak.
Perhaps that’s why he stuck with undrafted placehold kicker romo. Dak and romo are both trash compared to first round talents like mahomes and watson.

When Romo signed his last contract he broke his back.

isnt it fun bringing up debates that we lost and keep kicking. note to people, ROMOS body was over, one bad hit and his life could be over. he has moved on to greener pastures, do teh same. Be like Romo, MOVE ON.

Bill Parcells was the guy who made Romo the starter. But, what does he know. Not nearly as much as Garrett.

Romo shouldve got the team back in 2016 but he didnt. Romos my favorite Dallas qb I've seen play but its beyond time to move on.

and yet, the guy who keeps starting the Dak v Romo threads is a Dak sniffer galore.

Wonder why he can't seem to move on? Maybe it's easier to trash Romo than to defend Dak......

In hindsight, it probably would have benefited Dak and the Cowboys to develop their young QB behind Romo. If Romo stayed healthy, he may of had the juice to get this team over the top the past few years. If not, Dak was there to come in and pitch in reserve.

I was ready to move on from Romo after 2012, so it's all water under the bridge to me.
