Garrett will never get offered another head coaching job.
Interesting...the last former Cowboys HC to get another NFL HC position was Chan Gailey when Buffalo hired (then fired him) after years of being in college football.

Jerry's biggest fear....

Having to replace Garrett and then having to watch all the credit go to the next coach if success follows, a la Jimmy Johnson.

It eats at him like a pack of rats. Credit consumes him. He's basking in the Amari Cooper light as we speak. He feels like a football man, and it's glorious.

Any other coach won't be "his" guy unless it's his buddy Lincoln Riley, who isn't ready to jump yet. It's gotta be Garrett, or the asterisk on Jerry will be fully supplanted.

Anything short of a win Sunday and a good showing in the divisional round....and the vultures will be swirling over Jerry all offseason to fire Garrett.

He shouldn't see it that way, but that's just his hillbilly logic.

We all know Linehan is the planned fall guy, but if this ends in a thud, that won't placate anybody. It will be laughed at endlessly.

Jerry is puckered up right now.
JG isn't going anywhere. There's too many fans out there that are tickled about what we've done this year. There isn't enough of us making noise like when we were 3-5 now that things have turned around. Even, I'd debate that Jerry was never going to fire him anyway.

Garrett is safe, Linehan probably takes the fall which I'm pretty good with.

I agree, but if they crash ugly Saturday, it's going to be an ugly offseason. That's they only thing fans will remember.

no matter what happens in the playoffs I want linehan and his boy wonder moore gone. this offense has no imagination at all. we need to move cooper around more to get him open. teams know how to defend him and have taken away the deep routes that he was running the last three games. need more crossing routes instead of just running deep routes and curls routes. on some of the replays yesterday you could already see at the snap what the passing routes were going to be.

After seeing Wilsons performance against the Chiefs I’m really concerned what he may do to us. Granted our defense Is better but if our offense has two many 3 and outs early on it could turn ugly fast

I don't like garrett as a head coach I think he Is average best when it comes to the playoffs these playoff will go a long way in deciding things about garrett and Prescott but they are not going to fire a head coach who took a team from 3 and 5 to 10 and 6 and the playoffs and who has won the division three out of the last five years just not going to happen so he and dak are both here have to accept it and move on or find another team as for me I am cowboys through and through so it is what it is

Jerry’s biggest fear is changing coaches and winning a super bowl with the next guy? I think you are confusing it with “wildest dreams.” He’d sell the tattered remains of his soul to see that outcome.

Wouldn’t anyone he hired be his guy
Either way he hired him so he could easily take credit for the hire
He should have approached it that way with Jimmy Johnson as he went against the grain hiring a college guy back then. He made the perfect hire as the GM but that has never filled that hole in him.

If you've seen the SEC special "Before They Were Cowboys", it is very revealing about what Booger really wanted to do but the money wasn't in it back then. He and Johnson were both influenced and inspired to go into coaching by Switzer because of his charisma and energy and their respect for Broyles.

What he's always wanted to be is the coach but he won't take that risk. It's no coincidence that his mentor, even going back to his desire to buy the Chargers, was the most involved owner/GM in the history of the AFL. Before he became Crazy Al, he was as good a football man as there had been in the NFL and Madden attested to that. He was the AFC equivalent to Paul Brown and George Halas.

Booger is the once removed HC of the Cowboys and only stopped going down to the field during games when he realized he couldn't be hands off. He makes announcements the other 31 HC's make.

Booger irritates me because of his spotlight seeking personality and the fact he can't speak after 29 years of hogging the mic but as the GM, he does not irritate me and I give him credit for learning. It took mistakes, sometimes repetitive mistakes, but I think he finally got it. I think he's done a fine job on the talent side of it but his coaching side leaves a lot to be desired but considering his motive, it is completely understandable. Should Garrett do anything, Booger will get credit for that and Garrett will make sure that happens. That is Garrett's gift, he understands what his boss wants and needs more than anything else.

Several years back, Booger made this tongue in cheek comment to the local media about "getting some credit if the team won another" only if you looked really closely at his smile and his eyes, that was anything but tongue in cheek. The man is crazy successful but still lacks that which eludes him, that which completes him in his own mind.

Exactly, these things take on a life of their own. Jeff Heath is a liability.... until he isn't. Randy Gregory is a homeless loser.... until he isn't. The Amari trade is a disaster.... until it isn't.

Jeff Heath stinks. I haven’t seen many people deviating from that? Unless I missed something?

You wouldn't debate that with me, I think Garrett's job was as safe as nay HC in the NFL. You can't think of him and his involvement with the team like any other coaching situation. This is unique in the NFL.

The chiefs have one of the worst defenses in the NFL. I wouldnt project anything done to them onto our defense

Jerry’s biggest nightmare is letting go of Garrett and then seeing Garrett win a Super Bowl with another team. Seriously I think that is what keeps Garrett here. If that happened everyone would blame our lack of success 100% on Jerry.

That's what's known as an irrational fear.

Not a chance
That is the wet dream of a Garrett groupie
Only they would think Garrett has any shot at a SB

Garret is going nowhere whether we like and support him or not. Linehan is the guy on the hotseat.
