Sooo if we go to the superbowl you wont be cheering?

If your level of intelligence informs you that a poster who has been on the board since before your birth and has 15k posts won't be happy of the cowboys win, then that is up to you

Regardless of what happens Saturday, Garrett is not getting fired. Sadly. But you don’t go 10-6, win 7 of last 8, and the division, and get fired.
True, as much as I dislike Garrett he will be here next season. 10-6, division champs, 7 out of 8 wins to finish the season after starting 3-5. Can't justify firing him with those numbers. Sucks but I hope we keep Marc Colombo on the staff at all times cuz I feel him and Amari Cooper saved this season. I'd like to see more Colombo as a coach. He may be a great coach in the making.

Not sure how you can conclude this. JG has one very good attribute, the players play hard for him. So, can you really not see him be an OK coach w/ good coordinators? Our D is good now w/ Richard, why would you think the same thing couldn't happen on O w/ a good OC?

Garrett has bad coordinators for the same reason Jerry has Garrett as a HC
They are incompetent at what they do so they hire weak underlings
They want Yes men
They want company men

Yes men are not innovative hard workers
They are incompetent boss pleasers

Garrett has a bad OC, but good D coaches.

I do see some merit in the yes man theory. If Linehan finally gets the axe, it'll be fascinating to see if he gets another yes man.

It appears JG hired Linehan in the first place due to similar O ideas.

Well I'm not the moron who said Garrett has no shot at a SB, you are. So why would you cheer for something you KNOW is impossible?

So how may years does one have to be involved in football to be an actual "football guy?"

Not how it works.

And Jerry isn't involved in football. He's admitted himself he watches no tape. Doesn't evaluate prospects. He's simply placed himself in a position to make decisions that he's not qualified to make.

I hope you don't seriously believe this
First all Garrett is not making it to the SB
But if he does, Jerry is not firing him even if he loses 100-0 . Garrett makes jerry comfortable and that is the number 1 qualification for him
Yes I am serious but like you I am only going by a 'but if he does' scenario. And it is by no means a certainty.

I agree Garrett makes Jones comfortable but Jones' mentally is not the same as Joe SixPack's. Some people are often amazed how a narcissist reacts to certain real world stimuli but I would not be surprised at all.

Garrett will never get offered another head coaching job.

I disagree. The rankings (unbiased, but admittedly subjective) of NFL coaches consistently place Garrett in the middle of the pack- about #15. Theoretically, he would be an upgrade for roughly half the teams in the league. Folks in the forum will disagree I'm sure, but that's the way people around the league view him.

There are lots of coaching jobs opening up, and Garrett has intelligence and experience. Some teams will (rightfully IMO) believe his performance in Dallas is handicapped by significantly flawed management.

It's a moot point anyway- Garrett will be the coach for next season at a minimum.

He talks about watching tape and evaluating players and how the coaches perform here??

I get what you're saying though, maybe he has an amateurish eye for tape? I dont know, but he has made or empowered other to make a ton of great decisions in the last few years or so.

That doesn't absolve him for his mistakes but I think its a little hypocritical to criticize failures and not recognize successes. Currently we have a young, talented team with a healthy cap. So old Jerr is doing something right. Perhaps that something is letting SJ make the decisions?

EDIT: SORRY, I had to delete the link because the source is from a certain newspaper not to be mentioned here.

The only way Garrett stays is if they make the superbowl or win it. Linehan is gone no matter what.

It's simply time to move on from Garrett. In any other organization Garrett would be long gone

Jerry's biggest fear....

Having to replace Garrett and then having to watch all the credit go to the next coach if success follows, a la Jimmy Johnson.

It eats at him like a pack of rats. Credit consumes him. He's basking in the Amari Cooper light as we speak. He feels like a football man, and it's glorious.

Any other coach won't be "his" guy unless it's his buddy Lincoln Riley, who isn't ready to jump yet. It's gotta be Garrett, or the asterisk on Jerry will be fully supplanted.

Anything short of a win Sunday and a good showing in the divisional round....and the vultures will be swirling over Jerry all offseason to fire Garrett.

He shouldn't see it that way, but that's just his hillbilly logic.

We all know Linehan is the planned fall guy, but if this ends in a thud, that won't placate anybody. It will be laughed at endlessly.

Jerry is puckered up right now.

So hire Riley as OC, no extension for Garrett. Richard as DC. Then u look at whomever is better to lead the team in 2020 of the 3

Ah, but don't put words in my mouth!!!!

I do realize that most Jerry bashers don't give him any credit. That's the usual argument, I know. Not mine. i think it's wrong for you to call me a hypocrite.

I think JG keeps his job regardless. If we lose they will blame Linehan. There will be a big stink about our OC and how we need to change our playbook and playcaller. JJ will go out and get a good OC. But he will let it be known quickly that JG is still going to be the HC.
No question about it, Linehan will be gone before Garrett
