Not how it works.

And Jerry isn't involved in football. He's admitted himself he watches no tape. Doesn't evaluate prospects. He's simply placed himself in a position to make decisions that he's not qualified to make.
Right..

Jerry is basically our biggest fan whose calling the shots. Kinda scary actually. Amazing we’ve been as relative as we have been.

Ah, but don't put words in my mouth!!!!

I do realize that most Jerry bashers don't give him any credit. That's the usual argument, I know. Not mine. i think it's wrong for you to call me a hypocrite.
The biggest mistake fans and media made was not giving Jerry enough credit with Jimmy.

Jerry provided Jimmy enthusiastically with all the tools, money and moves he needed . That should be applauded.

We might not be in the situation we have been for the last 20+ years if we had given Jerry his due credit to where he’s felt like he’s had to prove himself.

Jerry's biggest fear....

Having to replace Garrett and then having to watch all the credit go to the next coach if success follows, a la Jimmy Johnson.

It eats at him like a pack of rats. Credit consumes him. He's basking in the Amari Cooper light as we speak. He feels like a football man, and it's glorious.

Any other coach won't be "his" guy unless it's his buddy Lincoln Riley, who isn't ready to jump yet. It's gotta be Garrett, or the asterisk on Jerry will be fully supplanted.

Anything short of a win Sunday and a good showing in the divisional round....and the vultures will be swirling over Jerry all offseason to fire Garrett.

He shouldn't see it that way, but that's just his hillbilly logic.

We all know Linehan is the planned fall guy, but if this ends in a thud, that won't placate anybody. It will be laughed at endlessly.

Jerry is puckered up right now.
Yes....
But .... You are tearing me apart!
...
Jerry can't win.
Dear street urchin,
From me humble status, Jerry is doing ... Good.
Right?
All right then , east India cadets!

Would Garrett be a head coach anywhere? Maybe as an OC but no team would hire him, right?
Positively, as a quality control specialist in Seattle. Yes, he could oversee Carroll and sit on his boat in the evenings.
Jason is a genius looking to fill his niche.

Hollah, and brings me a dollah.

Well I'm not the moron who said Garrett has no shot at a SB, you are. So why would you cheer for something you KNOW is impossible?

I am cheering for the cowboys during the pathetic Garrett years just like I did during the campo years
Like I said
Looks like you're just a Garrett groupie not a cowboys fan

Jerry's biggest fear is dying without ever hoisting another Lombardi as confetti fall all around while the nation watches him bask in triumph.

If you could convince him you know a way to do that before he dies and all it's going to take is an outlined process with no definitive time tables except he'll live to see it you would be Jason Garrett.

Sadness aside, your point should be seriously considered since Jones has invested a lot in Garrett. A wild card loss or divisional loss or conference championship loss will not get Garrett canned in Jones' eyes in my opinion.

However, a Super Bowl loss could. If the team could mount a serious postseason run and fall just short, Jones' narcissism would feel self-justified in adopting an 'any one of a number of coaches could take this team back to the Super Bowl and win it this time' approach.

No one should laugh. He has done it before.
Interesting psychoanalysis of JJ - anything is possible with this guy as we've seen, but I'm not sure even a professional psychiatrist can suss him out, especially since there is the unpredictability of the booze factor. :) And you're right he HAS done it before.

Jerrys worst nightmare in his minds eye would be if the Hooters near the stadium is closed for renovations and the bar side of the hooters is ALSO shutdown. THATS HIS WORST NIGHTMARE.

Wouldn’t anyone he hired be his guy
Either way he hired him so he could easily take credit for the hire
He is the owner/GM.

I doubt he fears anything.

He can afford to make decisions in the best interest of his investment.

The Cowboys.

Which is a football team..

just one of his holdings.

He has many things to deal with.

This is just one of them.

Jerrys worst nightmare is empty seats in the stadium.
This is the truth. Jerry cares about the Cowboys winning, but the nightmare is that we all wake up apathetic and the Cowboys become the Texans.

But that stadium and the real estate going on around it would probably make him not really even have a nightmare over that.

I think it's curious the way people characterize Jerry. He's a self-made billionaire who, at 76, likely outworks most people that post here. Everything related to the Cowboys IS his, and he earned every last bit of it. 'Credit' doesn't consume him, success does, as it does all men in his shoes that came about their money the way he did.

You think you have his nerve? Liquidate everything you own, then sink it all into a failing business because you believe you can turn it around. Until then, you're just flapping your gums and have no place to offer criticism of a man you don't know.

'Suss'. Never read or heard that one before. I like it though.

It does not matter if Jones allowed anyone qualified medically to evaluate him personally one-on-one. He is 76. Any chances of his personal disorder voluntarily altering at this stage of his life is between none and none.

Awesome word. I learned about it a few years ago... Fairly obscure word as well.

I think JG keeps his job regardless. If we lose they will blame Linehan. There will be a big stink about our OC and how we need to change our playbook and playcaller. JJ will go out and get a good OC. But he will let it be known quickly that JG is still going to be the HC.

I agree Linehan will fall on the sword as many others have in the past.

Just don’t think another playcaller is going to make a huge difference. Maybe the situational playcalling will improve but our playbook needs to be updated and new plays added in.
