Good thing you haven't had to see too many of those lately since I have been bed-ridden lately. :(

Damn, what's up, brother?
Three weeks ago, I got sick. Then a week ago Saturday, I got some other damn sickness. (though that didn't stop me from going to the Cowboys Giants game) Then I started to feel better on Wednesday, I decided to go into work only to get slammed again by what I can only guess is some other strain of the flu.

My body has been so racked fighting off all of this crap that I spent Thursday through today in bed. I went to the emergency room yesterday and the doc gave me antibiotics. I feel much better today. If things continue to improve. I hope to return to work tomorrow.

Glad you're feeling better! Sounds like pneumonia?

Did you get checked for the flu? It's rising quickly across the country and not to be taken lightly.

Doctor wasn't completely clear since I had some symptoms and others were missing. He said the fact that when two of them hit, they hit very quickly was a sign of the flu. He said colds tend to take time ramping up.

Hope it's not some new tick bite disease!

I am going to get a chaise lounge and throw a blanket over my legs and come back here and spend some time. I've already mastered that drooling stare off into space.

Man, I dig having a health thread. All of us codgers can discuss our various operations and medications. I am thinking we need a Bingo thread.
This thread is not specific to older people as people of all ages deal with health-related issues and now there is a thread where people can talk with others who have similar experiences.

I think this thread can be very helpful for people to discuss health issues they may be dealing with at various times. There are many cases where someone is going through something and has no idea what it is and neither do the doctors and through discussions with other people they may find out what it might be or at least get a clue as to which type of doctors they should see.

Yeah it is, I'm getting over that, my mother had it as well, at 82 it's kinda scary. One of our local news chicks had it, not sure why they let her work coughing up a lung between her spots.
I had 99.5 degree fever..crazy how fever just shuts you down, went to the store and thought I was gonna freeze to death. Haven't been sick in a few years

I'm so sorry to hear you're sick, Yosemite. You've got to take care of yourself or this forum will descend into chaos. Please tell us you sat in the Giants section and coughed at everyone during the game. That would be the only fun we could get out of you being sick. It would be extremely entertaining to believe those fans went home with a little extra "souvenir" to remember us by. Now go sit your azzes at home and contemplate your NFL choices ALL OFF SEASON! (It doesn't take long for the power to go to my head.)

If you didn't have such a classic avatar, we'd half expect to see a picture of Hector.

Great idea, I love handing out medical advice. I am not a surgeon but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express one time.

I do think you need to lay down the rules a little and not allow posters putting up pics of questionable things on their bodies for us to identify, I get queasy with that stuff. And keep the descriptions of bodily fluid discharges to very broad descriptions. I can't gag and type.

And what's with the prejudice against old people and all our ailments? We have more than any of the whippersnappers and will rule the health, or lack of, thread.

This thread is more about support than diagnosing. Sometimes just having someone to talk to leads to ideas on where to go next such as which type of doctor or clinic to visit or what to suggest to their doctor on the next visit.

I never got the flu shot because of the misinformation that it makes you sick. That's only if it's the active virus which can make one feel punk, which they do not use any longer. Then I got it in 2015 and I have never felt like that in all of my life. There were two strains going around, one that affected children and the other adults, and I had both.

I never miss my flu shot now. I wait until close to Halloween to cover through the first 4 months of the year. I also get the pneumonia and shingles shots on schedule.

Anyone that has ever had the chicken pox should get the newest shingles shot and booster. And anyone that's ever had the shingles for sure. Horrible ailment and a friend of mine had it dangerously close to his eyes.

Vaccinate before it's too late!

So, just reading between the lines, I can't diagnose here? Can I start a "Get Your Diagnosis Here" thread?
