Downplaying it? No. He probably would have gotten a first down, not even definitely. It sure as Hell wouldn't have put 8 more points on the board.
Of all the people to blame for this loss, he's the last one anyone should be looking at.

The “best RB” in the league getting 50 yards against the worst run defense in the league is the last person to be looked at? Really?

Lol, yeah, because the Cowboys success over the last 25 years has been mesmerizing. I can see the Jerry Aid dripping off your chin from here. I’m not so glad there are millions of fans like you who accept mediocrity and continue to make excuses for poor performances.
I don’t think it has anything to do with accepting mediocrity.
What are you proposing this poster does about it?
Aside from finding $5billion dollars and buying a team that’s not for sale what’s he going to do?
Cry on a forum and fight with Cowboys fans as powerless as he is?

Why is it so hard to understand the reason for the loss. First and foremost I have said it for weeks. Looney is a servicible backup, Williams has To bulk up. We are playing with backups, and to Zekes credit lead the NFL with a less than stellar OL like it would be with Frederick. Next to LT, the Center is probably the most important lineman on there.

We made it pretty far despite being undermanned. Oh and btw, Aaron Donald is the best in the game at what he does. Suh, no slouch either. We were out manned with better talent against our backups.

The defense? I can’t say much there. They were pushed around up front and resembled a 2015 unit with no Sean Lee. Couldn’t gef a 3rd down stop until they were inside our 10. We just simply were outplayed, out manned, out coached and we still had a shot at the end somehow.

Lets put it this way............there was no hole where he went. Brief hole where he didnt go. Watch it again and you will see. They did the replay several times so you can see it.

I'm watching the play right now. Both edges are contained and the only place with a little daylight has a saftey filling it. Probably should run there instead of into Looney's back, but still probably not getting it either way. He would have had to make a jump cut to get around Looney and his defender which would have kept him in the backfield too long with that saftey bearing down.

It was just a stupid call imo to run on their strength with our weakness, especially in that circumstance.

A complete no show. Pathetic performance. Dak's TD run was more impressive than any of Zeke's runs.

Watch the game again
It wasn't Zekes fault
This was on our coaching staff
They have a dominant DT combo who stifled everything in the middle but we refused to run outside or run RPO
This was on the coaches

Great idea. Let's not re-sign Zeke who's our biggest weapon. That will make us better.

One of the by products of a loss, especially in a big game, are ridiculous threads. Facepalm is right. But there will be more ridiculous responses to it. Man, I hope no one on the team clicks this thread.

No he wasn’t.. Aaron Donald was right there about to blow him up after he got scared and bailed from the pocket and was dancing all around with his horrible pocket presence. Forget the fact the whole right side of Dak was wide open, but dude spinned right into the area where the pocket was collapsing even further.

And this was just rushing standard four in a known passing situation,

How about you just stop..

Nonsense. Absolute nonsense.

And thanks for the video clip.

Arm is cocked, feet moving, when the ref blows the whistle. Donald all of 3 yards away. If Dak passes it, Donald's out of the play. If Dak pulls down and starts to run, he's got a head start, and is faster than any DT, even Donald. Oh. And he's been known to shed tackles better than most QBs, even at that.

But that's not even the core issue... the core issue is blowing a play dead at all, even had none of that been true, and Donald did get to him... it just wasn't that difficult to make the right call... ie, no call... on that play from where I sit.

You are absolutely wrong which is why I gave you the actual video and not a screenshot.

That’s basically him raising the ball for a quick second right when he turns around and lowering it because he sees Donald coming right for him..

Stop making excuses for his horrible pocket presence..

Maybe OP should watch the game again and focus solely on the trenches. Any person with a semblance of football IQ can see we got destroyed on offense and defense in the trenches.

Don’t blame Zeke for the guys calling plays to have him run up the middle where they have some of the best D lineman in the league.

I guess you're right. He should be able to run through walls.

The “best back in the league” should be able to create something

You get Barkley has a worse run line and had 5+ runs taken to the house from 50+ yards, right?

So why can’t Zeke do this?

Let me guess. You were claiming this offense didn't need a number 1 like Cooper.

This is a talent driven league. Get it through your head

You throw McFadden in there and Someone like Hurns outside you don't even reach the playoffs.

We don’t need Cooper haha

Again, show me a team that has won the Super Bowl with an elite WR?

He had no blocking tonight. Zeke was hit at the LOS almost every time he touched the ball.
So what you're saying is it doesn't matter who your rb is if the line doesn't open up big holes?

Shouldn't a back you draft 4th overall be able to overcome this? If he isn't then it's almost like it's not worth it having big money in a RB?

Damian Williams and CJ Anderson make a combined 2MM and both went for over 120 yards yesterday. Zeke is on a 25MM guaranteed deal.

Stop the madness people. He wasn't worth the pick and he won't be worth an extension. Already he's lost his long speed. What will he look like in 3 years on a 16MM average per year deal? After 2 more 400 carry years?

And yet, Barkley found ways almost weekly to create something out of nothing behind a terrible offensive line.
