Replacing Heath among top priorities

I know he's a fan favorite here and was continually ticketed as better than Byron(despite many logical explanations to the contra) from those that get sucked into flashy plays once every blue moon.

He's a big reason towards our loss on Saturday.

Luckily the safety market has cratered, and finding an upgrade for Heath should be extremely easy.

It really doesn't matter cause he's a coaches favorite and is loved by Garrett and Marrinelli. He's not going anyplace and will retain
his cost effective job.

My question is this: Why does X.Woods get a pass? Heath made a lot more plays than Woods did. If you want to say, "we need to replace all the safeties," I'm okay with that. But don't just single out Heath and say "Woods was fine." Neither of them had a positive impact on the defense.
neither guys were good the latter 4 games and into the playoffs. They both dropped off significantly.

Is that really true? Heath made more plays than Woods? He made more tackles but that's because he played in the box more as the SS. But other than that, where is the proof he made more plays? More passes defended? I don't really know.

Frankly, as much as I think Woods is just OK, I think he's a better S than Heath.

Ideally, both would be backups especially if Woods went to the bench because we brought in Thomas at FS.

On the 2nd play of the game Jeff Heath slips on 2nd and 9 to allow a 1dt down conversion by their TE #89. If you rewatch the game you'll notice a theme pretty quickly.

He is serviceable and really has done OK as a stop gap. But, come on man, the guy you are responsible for in man coverage is blocking down hard. QB boot all day. Would have stopped Goff and made them punt if he was a good, instinctive safety.

He's just so slow instinctively. It's nuts. He's pegged as the 2nd fastest on the team, but sure doesn't seem like it.

That play shows that Heath just doesn't have the confidence to stop a play by himself and he looks for someone to assist just in case he doesn't make the play.

Heath is trash as I've continually said through out the year. He's a SS, and his job is to tackle. Something he sucks at. He needs to be replaced immediately, I don't care if he moves to second team but we need a legit tackler out there/play maker. Woods is in year 2, so just stop it with the comparisons.

Heath is a worst Bill Bates. He can not cover one on one. Looks lost when playing the ball in the air. Makes a play now and then to keep a Job. Can easily be replaced like Bates was by Thomas Everett, James Washington, Darren Woodson, Dave Thomas, and Brock Marion.

You have the most important characteristic for a defensive player in your first sentence. Speed is useless without it and it is what makes great players truly great.

in other words you just made it up to fit your post, nice.

How about 3rd and 7. Do or die, have to get the ball back to stay alive. And Jeff Heath stood there like a deer in the headlights and let slow azzz goff run for the first.

Swearinger grew irate and tiresome of the ineptness of the skins coaching staff. You really think he’s be able to stomach marinelli stubbornness.

Swearinger expects a lot out of the sideline coordinators. That’s asking too because much for our staff...

Swearinger should expect a lot of himself because he was a big part of their defense collapsing down the stretch.

could you point out those plays that cost Dallas the game?

I saw about ten replays of Goff's first down run that finally sealed the win and Health had outside responsibility and got sucked inside.

If you watch the play I have no idea what he was doing. For some reason he was on the corner but edged in closer to the line of scrimmage and took a step in right when Goff rolled out and there was no containment and it was game over. That had to be his responsibility.

There have been some that said he was supposed to cover the TE but I am not really sure I buy that but I guess it's plausible. Heath followed the TE down the line thinking he might break into a route, thus allowing Goff to get outside.

Again, I am not sure I buy it and haven't rewatched the play so I guess it's plausible.

EDIT: Just watched the gif above, it definitely looks like Heath is peeking the backfield thinking Goff handed the ball off.

Heath is a career backup. Cowboys must get better at safety to compete.
