Why extend him? Let him earn it and if they get to the SB then you can pay him and if not it's time for a change. It should be a make or break year for him. Actually should've been 3-4 years ago but this clown is always getting excuses.

Rumor has it that Garrett is trying hard to bring back linehan for next year .
Lol.. Rumor has it that Garrett's days might be numbered too. Perhaps he and his boy Scottie can join back up elsewhere to begin destroying a college or HS offense.

I guess the Jones don't subscribe to that management philosophy that you back your guy, even if he's wrong.

This morning you were attacking the front office based on what Garrett said, now you are attacking them for saying something different.

And in both cases, neither side actually said anything. They both said "evaluating all options" and the boilerplate you say at this point. If they didn't say anything at all, you would dream up a criticism of that too.

If I was Jerry Jones,... I would take stock of what has been accomplished during the Jason Garrett era honestly, objectively and without bias.

Have some good things been done? Yes
Has he been provided with what he has asked for in terms of coaches? Yes
Has the organization provided the players to succeed? Yes
Has there been success on the field? Some
Has the team progressed in a reasonable manner and in the time frame as expected for a coach of his tenure? No
Has the team achieved a similar result with other top tier coaches in the league? No
Has he helped the team achieve success on the offensive side of the ball as expected? No
Will more time and resources placed into the team obtain the objective? And this is where an owner must go with his intuition and gut- make the ultimate call of a Super Bowl is on the horizon under this current head coach.

If I was Jerry Jones- the answer has to be No- it’s time to move on. Why? Because now is the perfect time to move on. The pieces are in place, but a change in philosophy is needed. A different voice in the room is warranted. Otherwise you risk another total rebuild without the attractive pieces in place to attract the top tier coaches.

Jerry must place affinity aside and kick Jason upstairs and go hard after Lincoln Riley now.
That makes may too much sense and is way too logical. This is a very reasonable train of thought.

As such, it will never......and I mean ever......happen in the Cowboys organization.

It's the organizational dysfunction that Aikman was referring to with his critique and something that has hamstrung the Cowboys organization for decades.

This all happens today:

Garrett said Linehan would not be going anywhere.

Later Stephen said no decisions have been made and that Garrett needs to shut his dirty little mouth.

Then suddenly Garrett conveys that he has momentary amnesia and doesn't remember what he said this morning while backpedaling faster than Lance Armstrong pedaling forward and indeed shuts his dirty lil mouth.

Dysfunction 101: The Dallas Cowboys front office. .

Jerry loves puppets.
Stephen eats puppets for breakfast.
Dance puppet dance.
Kind of let’s you know how this game work.. Everyone that didn’t think JG was a puppet was wrong. JJ keeps JG around so that he can run the team unchallenged.

Notice early in the season when JG didn’t go for it on 4th and 1 and we ended up losing the game. JJ makes a remark saying we should have went for it. Suddenly we go for every 4th and shorty the rest of the year. Which is a good idea by the way. Elliot was a step to the left away from making it Saturday night. Could have been a different game had he made that one.

The disfunction starts at the top and is not or is slowly changing. SJ is taking over some big decisions and is money smart. We will get better. It’s just a really slow process. Once we allow a HC do his job and have the trust and power then the players will respond.

Exactly, its kind of comical how far people are going to make this into a controversy.

Garrett said "Blah Blah happy happy"

Stephen Jones said "We are evaluating our options"

Garrett said "Yeah, what he said".

All of this within 40 hours of the team walking off the field in LA.
I guess people just expected that a $5 billion company would be operated in a professional manner.

They were wrong.

Ochoa is clickbaiting at BTB, this is what is the DC.com site about Garrett's original comments. There is nothing definite in his comments -

“We don’t anticipate any significant changes on our staff,” Garrett said, adding that the team is still in evaluation mode less than two days after its divisional-round playoff loss to the L.A. Rams.
In the radio interview Garrett was asked point blank if he expected Linehan to be back he said "I do, we don't expect any significant changes on our staff. We're still evaluating everything on our football team."

Here's the link. He talks about Linehan at the 13:20 mark

And? Seriously, so what?

This has as much "drama filled excitement" as:

7am it was raining.
8am it stopped.
9 am it started raining again.

Whoa!

When the off season starts everyone will see how irrelevant this is.
