Jerry on playoff success: The great Tom Landry had criticism for years

But you kind of do, Fish.

Look at every SB winning coach other than Landry, who is an anomaly but also a unique case (he started a franchise from scratch).

Every SB winning coach has had far more success to date (8 years) than Garrett. Every SB winning coach other than Landry has, at the very least, coached in a conference title game by this point in their careers. Most have already won a SB by this point in their careers.

So yes, Fish, you can kind of get a sense of what a SB winning coach might look like before he actually wins a SB.

The collective stupidity of our media is breathtaking at times.

Is Jones wanting to alienate the fans that have been around since the 60s? I remember Landry being criticized for not winning the big one, but not for never getting there.
It's also a different era. So much easier to turn a franchise around now. Got coaches competing for titles after 2 or 3 years. We know what a SB coach looks like and Garrett isn't it.

This was a great season for Jerry. Great season.

His guys overcame adversity, dug themselves out of a hole and were the talk of the league for 10 weeks. Might even be able to say his guys beat the SB champs in their house if things fall right.

His guy's did all that!

Great season for Jerry.

The real reason he traded for Cooper.

Lol, right or wrong, he must be tone deaf not to realize that he should never make that comparison.
he doesn't care , he knows he made a big mistake and he's trying to bully his way out of it. Such a sad little man. If I was JG I think the embarrassment of Jones statement would force me to retire, how can he work for a deluded fool like that.

I think the 2014 season saved Garrett. Gave Garrett a pass in 2015 and Garrett repeated the success in 2016. Got another pass in 2017 (Zeke) and repeated success this year. So Jerry is probably thinking Jason is a back to back to back success, and only an unforeseen disaster can keep us out of the playoffs. Good luck with that.

One of these things is true...or all of them are true
  • Jerry thinks he’s gonna live forever and is in no hurry to get another Lombardi if it means cramping his style.
  • Jerry has forgotten that Tom Landry won 20 playoff games in his 29 years as a HC compared to the 3 playoff games Jerry’s teams have won the last 23 years.
  • Jerry is so insulated from reality he believes most people think he’s credible.
