You know what you are going to get from these guys. They are not good enough or creative enough to take this team any further than what they achieved this season, and we know that.

I can live with expecting less ONLY IF I KNOW FOR FACT HOW THINGS WILL END, whether a winning or losing season.

As a cowboys fan hearing that linehan will go no where is like the doctors telling you you have "×" amount of years to live.

You are not expecting much and you know how things will eventually end.

I am ok with that. I really am. I feel that next season I can finally sit back and loosely enjoy football without bubbleguts and butterflies.

Knowing that if we make the playoffs and that we will eventually get shredded by creative playcalling and teams like the rams, saints etc puts me at ease.

Knowing that Garrett will only claim we have to get "21" going instead of getting more offensive players involved or coaching the whole offense up puts me at ease.

Knowing that all we can do is play 90's ball and fail to compete with the modern trend makes things a little easy.

It puts my high hopes on cruise control for the moment.
I will not accept mediocrity with my sports teams. Now if they (the organization itself) has accepted mediocrity, I'm done beating my head against a wall supporting that team. I love football on many levels and the reason for my infatuation is the thought/action of an organization building a team of professionals to consistently and successfully work together to play a game at the highest level possible no matter what cost (within the rules of course).
I can appreciate and get behind all those teams who strive for this each year. Right now knowing what I know/see with this DC organization, they are on the back burner and I'll wait to see what they do this spring to get to the next level.

You are just the type of fan JJ wants and loves. Someone that is ok with being just ok. Fans like this will always fill his stadium and his pockets regardless of the product on the field.

How can you say that?

Seriously I am a fan that is sick & tired of being sick & tired of this FO for all of this time.

I will rep the team till the end but I have the right to feel the way I do. You think I want it to be like this?

I really wish that was my team in the final 4 instead of an ended season.

So whether the cowboys atleast keep linehan or not would really impact your fandom?

That would be a big variable. Also if they are keeping the QB coach. Also who they sign and who they pick in the draft. When I say "they are on the back burner", I mean that I'm done putting forth a great deal of time, effort and $$ to be a fan of this team the way I was before. If they choose to be a mediocre team, I'll be a mediocre fan.
Like I said, I love football and will certainly enjoy watching the final 4 teams go after it. They are all on another level and I appreciate what they have built.

Watching those 4 offenses go will only anger our fanbase even more. It's what we dream of having.

They couldn't win a playoff game and then next season they did just that. Interesting you know for a fact they will never go further.....hmmmm.

Can you predict the next Powerball numbers?

Yes I posted that and i wish my team had advanced. My post is for how I will feel next season.

I we fail to make the playoffs or get creamed in the playoffs next season, there is no reason for me to care anymore.

GMO have you been eating excessive GMO's? Your brain is cloudy. Linehan will bring nothing modern to the high speed race now going on in the nfl.

And if I knew the winning Powerball numbers i wouldnt share them with you.

This franchise is a joke and will be until Jerry leaves this Earth.

Not really, because Jerry wrote the will that his children have control and Stephen himself will continue the traditions of his father, but he way cheaper. After that it goes to his grand-kids where they will eventually decide what to do.

O come on Soup. It's just a game. Enjoy watching it. Just remember that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

Next you will tell me how long we (the Cowboys), have been blind. LOL

You and I both know the cowboys way wont work in today's nfl.

The day the cowboys win a championship in today's NFL playing their way will be the day the whole NFL including all other 31 teams have a down year.

Not happening. It will only get tougher as other teams form and progress towards becoming the trend.

The FO has already admitted they'd rather not follow trend and stick to their guns because they believe they can prove it still works.

Know where Jerry really is?

Try on this view:

It starts with Garrett, who is signed through 2019. Jones emphasized that ““I like the direction that we’re going in. I like where we’re going."

“We’ve got a very young team. We’ve got a team that we’ve got going in a direction. We’ve got players we’ve got going in a direction,” Jones said. “We make changes and you’re going to change direction, and you may not know if you’ve got what those particular coaches or that coach has in mind relative to your personnel.

“But when you’re sitting here doing contracts on players for years in advance and you’re sitting here with investments in draft picks, stepping up here and making a change each year is tough. I’ve done that and I’ve been there and I know the price you pay.”

That does nothing for me.
Why root for them if you know the outcome?

The sad thing is that I remember when we were The Dallas Cowboys, defined by playoff appearances, NFC Championships and Super Bowls. Winning in the Divisional round was an afterthought and not getting to a SB was a huge disappointment. Now its like Meh.....Im just hoping we dont get embarassed in the playoffs. But whats most disheartening is seeing these other organizations pass us by......Saints, Rams.....and the organizations that haven't skipped a beat the last 23 years....Packers, Steelers, Broncos, Patriots.....Even the Giants and Eagles won a SB and the Niners & Raiders at least got to another one. Something has to change and what makes it frustrating is nothing will. Im with you on 2019, if it happens t happens, but if it doesn't its not hurting me like it used to......Jerry has effectively neutered my fandom.

The fact that so many fans have lowered their expectations is really disheartening. I totally understand it though, because mine have been lowered as well. I really hate to say this, but in a sense, being a Cowboys fan is not what it used to be. There was a time when I hated losing, more than I loved winning because winning was expected. It's not like that any longer. The wins are still amazing, but the losses, while not necessarily expected, do not have the sting they used to. I watch every minute of every Cowboys game, but sadly enough (and for years now) with completely different expectations. - - thanks Jerry.
Great perspective.
I feel the same way.
I remember those days when the Cowboys were behind, I was expecting a comeback. It was about as certain as the sun shining the next morning.
I no longer have that feeling.
Even in the Rams game, I was hoping. But deep down inside, I knew the Cowboys would come up short.
We're just another run-of-the-mill team - far from our thrilling legacy.
