Cowboys “more comfortable” about long-term deal with DeMarcus Lawrence

Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence played out the 2018 season on the franchise tag, but didn’t have the same upset about that state of affairs that we’ve seen from other players

Feel more comfortable ?

Last time i heard SJ talk he said signing Lawrence is a top priority. Now they feel "more comfortable". Aha...

And of course they are. The were also with Murray. Up until he demanded 8 mils per anno. After that the feeling in the FO changed ;-).

Yea, no complaints here either.

Curious to see where both sides start out at. Vernon money? Or is he trying for Mack money

Stephen admits they're not that far apart......my guess it would somewhere in the range of what he just made under the tag. Certainly south of $20M per year.

Of the 5 players you need to pay top money to over the next 12 months, he is 5th in importance to your team IMO. So by all means, give him all the monies.

Yea but he had issues with Murray's age.

Seems like all these players now are wanting 20 mil a year.

Actually it's the next resistant bar for defensive players. Notice Donald and Mack barely crossed. Problem is contracts between DE's and QBs were not that far apart a few years but QB are now out-pacing them quite a bit ( they've crossed the $30M level) and they're trying to catch up. Doesn't look like it's going happen coz word is Rusell Wilson could become the first $40M a year player.

We Knew it was going to happen, the dude is a force on this line, I'd hate for him to become a FA and sign with a NFC east rival

I'm glad now he needs to use this off season to get that shoulder worked on. He avoided surgery last year and it gave him problems midway in the season. Hard to play the position with 1 arm.

Is he ever going to get his shoulder fixed? Or wait until May

If he's not a key building block for their defense, the Cowboys are further away from a Super Bowl than the time it will take to get out from under his contract anyway.

That's cool with me. Just hope the guaranteed money is at maximum the 2nd franchise tag X 1.5 so roughly $32M in guarantees
