Owens is right. Tony was just an above average quarterback in an era of inflated passing stats.

Their are at least 10 quarterbacks playing right now better than Romo.

Mahomes
Brady
Wilson
Rodgers
Brees
Rivers
Watson
Ben
Luck
Ryan
Wentz
Goff

Whaaa? You honestly think Ryan, Wentz, Goff, Watson, Mahomes are better than Romo was? Are you kidding? Ryan's debatable but I think it's insane to say Goff, Mahomes, Wentz, and Watson are better than Romo...just insane to me, they may end up being better than him but right now? I don't think so...not even close.

Seriously, Wentz should not be on that list.

His nfl pension alone will pay him well over a million a year.

His version of broke is having to decide between keeping 2 vacation homes or 5.

You're not even close to what players get for retirement benefits from the NFL. For 2018 the average player who received retirement benefits from the NFL, who have to wait until they are 55 to start getting benefits, got an annual check for $43,000.00. The only way Owen could try to decide on a or multiple vacation homes when he starts to receive retirement benefits from the NFL is if he save any of the money while he was playing and reports are he as little left of that.

And yet TO had what you could argue was his 2nd best statistical season ever in his mid 30’s catching balls from Romo. Whodathunk?

Just imagine what TO’s numbers in Dallas would have been if Romo was actually worth a damn (sarcasm)

SMH
I was trying to find his stats according to QB, thank you. I think Romo's thrown him more TD's than any other QB.

Dont care what anyone says: Romo is still my all time favorite Cowboys QB until someone else dethrones him, in my book. His talent was wasted, but it is what it is. And yes... Romo is CRUSHING IT as a broadcaster. I enjoy listening to him immensely.

Now then: could Romo come in and help this coaching staff? I'm leaning towards HECK YES. Start as a QB coach and work his way up the ladder.

Will he? Heck no.

All this is SAS using Dallas Cowboys, past and present as his personal cash cow.

I think Mahomes has the ability to be one of the best ever, but it's too soon to say.

They are on occasion absolutely told and asked to say controversial things. I have worked in show business before.

I don't know what level "show business" you were in but it wasn't the NFL and I guarantee you no owner or coach encourages any player to ever say anything controversial that could end up causing drama and/or problems in the locker room. You want proof, just look at how many players who have said controversial things and then found themselves released or the team tries to trade them but the other teams don't want someone that's going to disrupt their locker room. Just look at what Bryant said after getting released by the Cowboys and how long he had to wait until due to so many injuries the saints needed a receiver and then in his first practice gets injured and goes on IR.

Don't imply all fans are like that. Owens has a long history of praising a player or coach and then days, months, years later talking trash about the same player or coach. I remember Owens in an interview once after a game where he was in tears saying Romo was his QB and how great he was. Or when he first went to philly and said how thankful he was to finally be able to play with a QB the caliber of McNabb and then after he left throwing him under the bus. You can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

He threw interceptions late in games? Hmm during his run he has more 4q comebacks then anyone else. All the greats have thrown late picks, some just more media sensationalized then others

Uh no! They focused on his play when he chose to do so! Not his incessant childish crying!
That is why he's given a platform to state his opinion...because of his HOF career on the field and he's uniquely positioned to give his opinion. He played with Romo and other QBs whom were better winners than Romo.
You might not like the Owens but his opinion carries weight and Facts

What's shocking is how Cowboy fans lower the bar for Romo.
He was a good Dallas QB1 not Great! By NFL standards he's an average QB that kept us relevant... 1 playoff win equals not a Winner

Don't lower the bar. I love Romo because he kept relevant...but by NFL winning QB standards...he misses the mark

Still makes me chuckle how many fans are still in mourning about Romo.

Someone makes an offhand comment about Romo? Headline news.

It even extends to the point of thinking he can rescue the franchise by returning as a coach.

He was a good player.

But he IS GONE. GET. OVER. IT.
