What Happened to Cowboys Fans?

LMAO, show me one other fan base that has had to be asked to quieten down more than this one when the offense is lining up for a play.

In general, I consider the Cowboys fanbase to be among the most ignorant I have ever encountered and this dates back a long time. That also coincides with the team that has the most fans of just the Cowboys, not the NFL or even football in general. The team with the most Homerball.

If each NFL city was a sports page, DFW would be the National Inquirer.

Note: I am not including this forum or the old DC.com but we do have a lot of people that easily get sucked into all of the drama and that's easy to explain. Show me one team in any sport with more drama than this one. The media is far more interested with what happens outside of the actual game and that book written about the 90's team started all of this ancillary crap.

We could at least console ourselves with the thought that the Browns and the Lions have never made a SB, but with Mayfield looking promising we may lose one of that thought process...

I think a lot of it is fans telling each other how great the team is every hear when in reality they suck. Whether it’s coaching, over rating certain players or over looking other teams there are a lot of fans that are delusional. There’s a difference between optimism, homerism and reality.

I am older so I still have the 70’s and 90’s glory years. Younger fans have nothing. 2014 and 2016 season. We were out coached and continue to be. 2016 looked like these young players were standing up and trying to win despite the sub par coaching. That’s what it’s gonna take. Maybe if Moore is the young football mind they say then he can put this team over the top. Staff needs to be so good that all JG has to do is stand there and call time outs.

Over a year ago I posted that the Browns are closer to a SB than we are.
I was ridiculed. And knew I would be. But yet here we are, both teams and their fans on the couch watching it yet again.

The Browns were 3 missed FG's away from being 10-6 IIRC.
They really aren't any further away than we are with the improved season we just had.

Hmmm, from what I hear there's not a lot of fans "telling each other how great the team is", seems to be more like you who insist that a team that has made the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years and won a playoff game "sucks", or that a team that has 3 playoff wins in the last 23 years is "great".

Both are inaccurate extremists...

We use to be one of the most intelligent fan bases in the NFL. Now we hang off of every word of the media's click bait that is purposely targeting our uniformed response.

I'm not sure that's true. Years ago, before the internet, I subscribed to the Dallas Cowboys Weekly, and I eventually dropped the subscription because the questions and complaints mailed in were so mindless it bothered me to think I was part of the same group of people. I just think with the advent of the internet and sites like this it gave more of a forum for those people to express themselves.

The announcers and Witten were giving props to Moore yesterday. Actually called him, and said he was one of the great young minds coming up in the NFL. Or something to that effect.

That and seeing the 3 next great pass rushers in the NFL in Zeke and Barkley and Kamara are about the only 2 things I remember. :muttley:

Most of the negativity comes from opposing fans, clamoring about the things we say ... that we indeed do not say.

“We dem boyzzzzz”
“Super bowl champs this year”

Etc

Real fans, guys on this board are knowledgeable and sane.

Ummmm...you’re obviously not familiar with my posting history with regards to the team for the past several years. You’re also clearly not familiar with the general mentality around here, especially towards the end of the season this year.

The questions were really bad. Lol

On the contrary, I'm fully aware of the comments here.

The key word is a "lot", there's always going to be some of each extreme, but the majority fall somewhere in the middle...

Exactly right. And those extremists do not represent most fans, and only seem to be in larger numbers because they are more vocal and outlandish
