What Happened to Cowboys Fans?

Fantasy football has made some fans forget X's and O's and other fun stuff to discuss and bases everything purely on statistics. I'll argue that some aren't really all that huge of a Dallas fan, but have favorite players across the league.

The announcers and Witten were giving props to Moore yesterday. Actually called him, and said he was one of the great young minds coming up in the NFL. Or something to that effect.

That and seeing the 3 next great pass rushers in the NFL in Zeke and Barkley and Kamara are about the only 2 things I remember. :muttley:
I did hear that on the goal line Moore actually ran the ball twice. Didn’t score but was still better than 3 straight passes.

That and the only score put up was when Dak was on the field.

I've actually seen fans make what they believed were serious arguments that start with "well, in fantasy football ...", or " well in Madden ...". That actually seems to have disappeared for the most part, although once in a long while it will come up.

The negative tend to be the most outspoken, so when you get a few of them shouting mindless drivel, the mob mentality takes effect, and others who normally wouldn't have that point of view are swayed to light their torches and grab their pitchforks.
Now, where did I leave my pitch for the torches...

I'm not sure if he called them all - often you could hear the QBs on the field just making things up as they went - but whether he did or not, it would have been the right call during the season, but not in the Pro Bowl. The problem with running the ball in short yardage in the Pro Bowl is the whistle blows when the ball carrier just gets touched, and sometimes even before he gets touched, and nobody is blocking hard and the RB isn't running hard.

We use to be one of the most intelligent fan bases in the NFL. Now we hang off of every word of the media's click bait that is purposely targeting our uniformed response.

I don’t remember our fans ever not being terrible, honestly. There are a lot of us, and the bar for fandom is not high. We’re entitled and sensitive and feel the need to apologize for an organization that’s been very competitive overall. I never understand how we make the lists of teams with “good fans.” I think our fans generally suck. I guess the fact that we have so many, though, counts for a lot. We do travel well, at least.

LMAO, show me one other fan base that has had to be asked to quieten down more than this one when the offense is lining up for a play.

In general, I consider the Cowboys fanbase to be among the most ignorant I have ever encountered and this dates back a long time. That also coincides with the team that has the most fans of just the Cowboys, not the NFL or even football in general. The team with the most Homerball.

If each NFL city was a sports page, DFW would be the National Inquirer.

Note: I am not including this forum or the old DC.com but we do have a lot of people that easily get sucked into all of the drama and that's easy to explain. Show me one team in any sport with more drama than this one. The media is far more interested with what happens outside of the actual game and that book written about the 90's team started all of this ancillary crap.
So my standards are too high for Cowboys fans? Say it so

“Dallas is a winners town” as Troy so accurately stated.

We complain all the way to the bank. It isn’t enough to just enjoy the ride like fans in Cleveland or Detroit.

Remember after one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history with 20 consecutive winning seasons, 12 championship appearances and 5 Super Bowls it only took 3 consecutive losing seasons for the stadium to be half full, local tv blackouts and on the verge of bankruptcy losing a million bucks a month.

But also remember we have gained a national following from fans who on the most part abondened their local or regional team for various reasons joining the Cowboys because of the glitter and glamour which breeds a more expectant fan.

Obviously local fans and business despite their discontent with current status of football operations continue filling the stadium and have assisted in the Cowboys becoming the wealthiest franchise. So, there’s something to be said for the support despite the results.

Fans love their football and the Cowboys are our team but we are also presented with a most unusual situation with our leadership which has frustrated our base. It’s a love/ hate relationship.

I don't care about how the fans are, has nothing to do with the game to me.

I've been around Cowboys fans for a very long time and do not consider them close to astute in the actual game. Got a follow the ball GM and majority of the fanbase. The Cowboys fans have always been about the stars more than the team.

It's all about the stars and has been for a long time.

I think a lot of it is fans telling each other how great the team is every hear when in reality they suck. Whether it’s coaching, over rating certain players or over looking other teams there are a lot of fans that are delusional. There’s a difference between optimism, homerism and reality.

See what I mean

I seriously don’t understand this definition of Cowboy fans sucking?

I’ve been attending Cowboy games since the 60’s in the Cotton Bowl. And I’ve attended about a dozen opponents venues and I’d argue our fans are some of the most sobered dedicated professional white collared fans in the league.

Using a anonymous fan forum to measure the pulse of Cowboys Nation is short sighted. Most fans here have probably never even attended a game or less than a handful and probably don’t watch all of the games on TV.

The only Cowboy fans they know are mostly from this type of Social Media which we can’t even be sure if everyone here is a Cowboy fan. And why these type of observations are mostly absurd.

This is a fair comment. Just because there are some vocal fans with extreme or irrational views on a site like this doesn't mean they represent the bulk of the fan base.
